I'm not sure where the character attacks were, Dennis.
Cognitive processing abilities perhaps.

Something to consider:

We now live in a day and age where people are inundated with information both false and true. Your information sources make sense to you, other people believe their source. You may disagree, and your source may be correct, but acting condescending to someone who comes to a different conclusion is generally not an effective tactic.
"Rights" ending where "risk" begins is unfortunately subjective. The majority of people who aren't in the masks/distancing camp don't want you to get sick, but they don't believe that they're putting you at risk. You can rant/rave/argue all day long, but they've decided that the information they have is accurate. The information to the contrary is tainted in their eyes.

Personally, I believe that coexistence with people of differing risk assessments is part of the American existence. People cite European countries as an example of a unified front, but you're just not going to get that here. It's unfortunate, but it's the situation we're in.

This isn't the helmet law debate.
The science on how people are infected by this is in and quite clear.

Only if you get your news from some sources.

I'm not here to debate the science.

I've made my stance clear, and I haven't moved from it. There are other positions besides mine. I don't really like them, but I know those people came to their own conclusions for personal reasons, and the reality is that I have to coexist with them or figure out how to isolate myself. I'm not strong enough to fight everyone who thinks differently than me, so I get to learn to lose.

As the old saying goes: "Never mistake intelligence for wisdom"
If and when a vaccine is developed I can't wait to watch the arguments that subject fosters.
That pump has already been primed for years.

How fucking sad. People no longer working to find the truth, instead just believing whatever is convenient. I will not pretend to respect them.

Speaking of Europe, Sweden seems to be doing just fine with their science, not going along with the European flow. Repressing the curve just prolongs this crap and gives us peaks and valleys. All hail social distancing and going about life as normal as possible. Go Sturgis with some common sense.

Plenty of points between the two. Some folks know the science and facts but say fuck it

Some of the shrillest on social media, I know IRL that don't necessarily practice what they preach. I know nurses that take care of covid patients go on group day trips with questionable precautions.

I follow the guidelines pretty well but I have my lapses. I try not to judge anyone's decisions too harshly. It's on me to take whatever precautions to protect my loved ones. Everyone else has their own lives to lead...

Incorrect use of Karen and Brian...

But, in general, the spreader events have been spontaneous and one day or a weekend in nature rather than an organized event, of 10 days, approved by local officials.

So I guess we'll have to look at this as a "science" experiment in three weeks or so.

Data is good I guess!

To answer the OP's question...

No, not going.
Thought about it last year as it would have been a "20th Anniversary Ride, but you know "Shit happens".

Although, each time I've gone never spent more than about 8 hours on Main Street.
Trip itinerary has always been: One week to get there, two lane roads only, no freeways. (Way back in the beginning it was go thru states that don't have a helmet law. Ha, ha... Well the no helmet thing won't work anymore.) Camp one night, motel it the next if possible.

Get to Sturgis, park on Main (good luck on doing that now), go into the first bar, order a shot of tequila with a beer back, walk up the street visiting other fine establishments, buy a shirt, walk back the other side of street while stopping at "establishments for food and beverage", then back to bike. Start bike then head West back into Wyoming and take a week to get home on two lane roads.

It's all about the man!

Besides, Sturgis is just a big cluster f _ _ k anymore.
