Happy 916 Day!

In my opinion, before the h8ers come in, one of the coolest bikes EVARRRR!!!!

Undeniably a real game changer when it came out.

Let's turn it into a thing!

The first 916 I ever saw in person was in Carmel Valley on the Laurales Grade towards Hwy 68/Laguna, and it was Doug Chandler's, when he was a Cagiva factory rider. Didn't see another one for like a year...

Like many classic vehicles, 916s gradually dropped in value hitting a low spot at around 20 years old (about 6 or 7 years ago). Then prices quickly started rising again as they became "collectable" and are now crazy high... if you can find one. I was luck enough to snag one at the low point 7 years ago for under $3k.

I have to say, its simultaneously the best and worst motorcycle I've ever ridden. You'd have to ride one to understand, but lets just say I'll never sell mine.

The photo below also gives a nod to the Dirtbag Challenge which we are currently in the third week of...

Nice to see I'm not alone. Could be a rose colored glasses thing but I'll still say it - best bike ever.

Our family celebrates "Happy 9:16" every day!

I've ridden a few (916, 748, 996SPS), mostly in the late '90s, and even in my younger, thinner, more flexible days I realized it was getting more difficult to origami myself on to the bike with each passing day.

But that 996SPS was pretty awesome!

I wonder if someone on a Porsche forum is celebrating 917?

I thought that bike was the sexiest moto I had ever seen when it came out.

I bought the newer 998 and used it for a track bike for 3 years. I rode it on the street but it was not great so I did not do much of that.

My buds asked how it was different than my R6 track bike.
I told my friends it was like an Italian mistress.

You tell her what to do and she is amazing at doing it.
You let her decide and you will find trouble.

So different than the more more neutral Japanese bikes.

I still have mine up on stilts. Thought about offering it to a museum to use for whatever period of time. Make more room in the garage.

No way for me to ride it again.

Would you consider the living room of my retire ranch a museum?
