Donating a bike

Hi,

Wondering if anyone knows of any good charitable organizations to donate a probably functional but currently non-running bike to (older, 2007 GSXR750).

Thank you

Charitable organization person here. First, what a wonderful thing you're trying to do!
Second, my advice is pick a cause you like (e.g., SPCA, your local NPR or PBS station, Planned Parenthood, SFJazz, opera, symphony, ballet, museums, food banks, etc.) and then call their fundraising department (usually called the Development or Advancement department) to ask if they accept donations of vehicles. In general, smaller organizations might not have the bandwidth to sell your bike and it should be clearly stated in their gift acceptance policy (usually an internal document, so you'd have to call to ask) but it really varies.

I'm a Director of Development and know that our gift acceptance policy doesn't allow for vehicles, otherwise I'd be suggesting my organization.

Sell it locally - plenty of folk would be happy to have that bike, then donate whatever you want of the proceeds - most charities would much rather have the cash than a bike that needs work.

I have a co-worker that called up kars for kids and genuinely was trying to get a car for their child.....

This is why we have warning labels.
