CHP pulled me over...

I took a ride this morning and was enjoying myself, until I noticed the disco lights in my mirrors. I remember seeing him pass me in the opposite direction, but didn't think anything of it at the time.

Turns out I was going faster than I thought. 69 in a 50, was the alleged speed (verbal speed... At least that's what he wrote on the citation.) I wasn't paying any mind to the tachometer and totally admitted that to the officer.

It was a pretty good interaction and he let me off with a warning on the speed. Still got a ticket for an expired registration sticker though. Props to the officer for approaching me with ease and not being a jerk. Hella respectful, informed me that I was speeding but let me off with a warning, and took the time for some pillow talk afterwards.

I got to say... Being respectful, following orders, and talking like normal human beings goes a long way!

Oh yeah... Jelly alert on River Road!

Thanks for the heads-up on River Road, OP. It never hurts to pay attention to subtle reminders from those that ride the same roads as I do.
I'm glad you had a relatively painless outcome.

Over the years I've been pulled over 3 or 4 times in Sonoma County on a moto and never once received an often deserved ticket.

In the car?

Always get a (well deserved) ticket!

I think most of us tend to believe getting a ticket or not has a whole lot to do with what we did or didn’t do after being pulled over. I tend to expect it has a little to do with those things and a lot to do with the mood of the officer.

Either way glad you got lucky this time.

You sir, are correct. I'm still learning the area.

Yea, I was lucky my mood wasn't spoiled and I remained positive. I could've easily disputed the allegations and called BS on the speed... Then I would've been leaving with 2 citations, a mark on my CDL, or worse.

So the moral of the story is to be polite and have an expired registration or something else minor so you can get written up for something other than speeding?

Or, you could just get off for being old!

Last time I got pulled over I had just pulled a great wheelie on my Ducati 1098 SF (since sold).

I of course, NEVER (sic) do wheelies on city streets but I had just replaced the cs sprocket down a tooth and was enjoying the additional "torque". The cop lit me up and I instantly pulled over and took off my helmet, I knew I was busted. After handing him my DR lic, he said "I expected somebody half your age. (I was 59 at the time) So, he let me go. I thanked him and said I know you didn't have to do that, as he was walking away he replied, "well, I couldn't get you reckless driving, you looked like you were in control."

First time I was pulled over and was in a better mood for the experience. Pays to be olde.....

Violation determines the citation.

Man, I got dinged quite a few times while living in Santa Rosa, and I can honestly say some of them were NOT warranted!

(Fortunately, commissioner agreed with me on a number of the citations)
