"The central location of Buttonwillow Raceway makes it convenient to racers in both Northern and Southern California as well as Oregon, Nevada, Washington, and Arizona."

Is this guy high? Where have they all been at AFM b-willow events? I actually welcome it and what the new track brings as well as the GT races. Hell yea!

Im pretty sure history shows that CA wont support more than 3 club series. But let them try. Theyll probably still be good for the sport if they can convince a few dozen trackday riders to finally grid up.

I love racing at BW, but not enough to race their monthly. And I really think the new track is going to be nothing to write home about. 2nd and 3rd gear corners with short straights gets old quick.

I havnt seen the layout of the new track, do you have some info on it? Maybe all the racers that are tired of flip flopping Chuckwalla will show up. The GT races alone will be worth it, IMO.

Based on the sizes of the corners relative to the Sweeper, I think they’ll all be 2nd or 3rd gear. Maybe you could gear really short for those almost-1st gear corners and use 2nd-4th.

I think the layout would be amazing if it was twice the size.

Sonoma is not that much better and people love it. On 1000 all corners are 1st or 2nd gear

Bull. What about 5, 6, 8, & 10...

Even so, Sonoma isn’t all 60-120deg and there’s huge variety. Hard braking, soft braking, corners that are all drive, etc. I will be shocked if this small BW has half that.

Some people love the small Thunderhill. That doesn’t mean it’s a good racetrack .

Ya'll over here complaining about West Coast tracks, I moved back to Texas and my local Houston track has what they call "the launch" and everyone makes a big fuss about it and it's literally a 10' mound of dirt. FML.

What I would give to ride BW/Thill again.

The article spectacularly leaves out the WHO of CRA. Whose money, talent, org skills, racing experience, etc...? As does the CRA (non-)website.

Honestly, it would be awesome to have a decent club series that would attract Socal and NorCal racers. The amazingness (or lack thereof) of the track is fairly secondary if the level of competition is high.

That's the first time I've seen a map of it; looks like it could be pretty fun.
