Welcome to the Crash Analysis forum

Welcome to the newest section of BARF. Please feel free to share recent or past crash experiences you've had. The purpose of this forum is to learn from those crashes. (The purpose of this thread is to have a place where people can post whore the new section until we get some real content in it. )

Have fun. Enjoy. And please keep in mind this forum is for learning, not flaming.

Thanks.

The BARF Moderatorshipness's.

**Edit**

Please be sure to read the sticky at the top of the forum.

Thanks.

The moderators are aware of the type of flamefest that can happen in sections like this one. I believe there will be zero-tolerance for any kind of flaming in this section.

As for Budbandit being the top poster, I certainly hope he takes part in analysis and helping out fellow riders by sharing his knowledge and experiences with the rest of us.

Zero.

It really just takes a modicum of common sense to keep that from happening. It's a two way street:

Have a thick skin: Those who've crashed that don't want to hear any criticism of their riding skills and/or judgment, they really shouldn't be posting about their crash online, here or anywhere.

Don't be a dick: Those readers who can't keep their criticism constructive (NOT "you crashed because you're an idiot squid") have no business analyzing the crash because they're not helping anyone.

Those that can't handle it should (and I'm sure will) get shitcanned promptly by the mods.

I'm really glad to see this new forum because, until now, there really hasn't been a good place specifically for crash analysis. Until now, the inevitable crash analysis tended to sneak into the "so-and-so crashed today" threads in General, which seemed tacky to me especially when serious injury or death was involved.

Still, I'm a firm believer that all crashes should be analyzed so that we can learn from each other's mistakes, big and small. It's great that there's a dedicated place to do it now.

My 0.02 is that in addition to regulating flaming, it would be nice if we could keep the signal to noise ratio high. Off-topic, cute, funny inside-joke type replies will just clutter up otherwise informational threads. How do the mods feel about cleaning up threads?

I fully agree... my personal opinion is that keeping threads in this section more on the serious side will help with its value.

A good majority in the moderator group feels strongly about not editing user posts. In this section, we have 3 moderators who, in my opinion, not only have a lot of knowledge about the subject in hand, but are also very well spoken and well respected across the board (BARF.) I think the signal to noise ratio will remain high (less noise, more signal) with these people in charge!

Hopefully people will be able to express their opinions in a more constructive way in this section... so hopefully we won't see words like that thrown around here.

It should be a warm fuzzy section, run like an AA meeting:

"Hi, ummm..... my name is Eric"

(alltogether)
"H I - E R I C"

".......... and I have a crashing problem"

The first step to getting better is admitting you have a problem

every single frong crash thread should be stickied in this section in lieu of a faq. just make them read-only so it won't cause any flaming.

that would probably answer 90% of all crash questions.
