Davis to San Jose the long way: Hwy 49 - BARF

So last night I got this great idea to bypass the freeway and ride some twisties. Since it was late and I wasn't thinking clearly, I decided to go finally ride this majestic Highway 49 everyone keeps talking about. Then, I had the even smarter idea of leaving at 6am to beat thanksgiving day traffic into the bay area.

It was night when I left

Davis was more dead than usual

No idea what the temperature was, but it was around 40. By the time I got to Watt avenue off of Interstate 50, my legs were rejecting heat to the environment like some sort of industrial heat exchangers. 20 miles in and I was already freezing. Another 10 miles down Hwy 16 and my heated grips are useless.

Another 10 miles down 16 and my visor gets blurry, and I'm thinkin' it's the moisture from my breath. I stop at a gas station and wipe it, and this happens

No, that's not ice on the visor, that's my anti-fog film flaking off

Leaving the gas station, I saw that the Rancho Murieta Department of Redundancy Department was doing its job

Nice quaint little cities on Hwy 49. I think it's San Andreas, or Jackson.

I must have missed you. I was in Coulterville around 11am. 49 south of 120 was vacant. The sun was out and I'm guessing low 60s. I had the Gerbing on very low so I'm not sure.

There was very little traffic, too. I could stop and take pictures without risking being passed by ass-dragging minivans and econoboxes that would later have to be re-passed over the DY :|
