Fresno foothills ride - BARF

Fresno area riders have some fantastic roads to enjoy. I got the opportunity to ride about 300 miles in their foothills on Tuesday.

I left Fresno and headed up 168 going to Shaver Lake.

Found snow at about 4000 feet

168 was fairly clean. Some sand and water in a few corners. Made my way to Shaver Lake. It was gorgeous!

Left Shaver Lake and wanted to stay high in the foothills. Took Dinky Creek to make my way across to 180.

Lots of snow on the sides of the road, but fairly clean roadway. The shady corners were full of suprises; sand, snow, and ice among them. Slid the front a couple times, the rear several times, and both one time. Pucker power!

Unfortunatly after 16 miles on Dinky Creek I found a locked gate I could not get the FJR around and had to head back to 168.

Took 168 back down to Sample Rd. and this is where I found all the fun back roads.

Sample rd took me to Sycamore which took me to Watts Valley Rd.

Watts Valley Rd rocked!

Watts Valley lead to Maxon Rd.

Had to take a little nature break and found a really tranquil stream.

Maxson took me to E Trimmer Springs which runs alongside Pine Flat Reservoir. Gorgeous views and E Trimmer Srpings Rd was a total blast to ride.

After Trimmer Springs I ended up on 180 then to Dunlap Rd. Dunlap Rd had me laughing to myself. Left, right, left , right transitions, smooth pavement and no cars. A kick ass road!

Dunlap dumped me onto 245. Went past Mountain House restaraunt which is supposedly the equivelant of Alices, but it was closed.

Then back down to the valley floor and back into Fresno.

The weather was great. The roads were fantastic. I saw almost no traffic. It was a great day and a great ride.

I'm jealous of our Fresno BARFers who have some great roadways to rail on.

I am glad you found your way around some of the good roads! Thanks for posting up pics of your ride, it is nice to able to share these areas with the rest of the world, and I never have my camera with me. While you found some good roads, there are a ton more to the north of 168.

Tell all of your friends about the great riding down here, we could use an influx of Bay Area real estate buyers!

If anybody is ever in town, hit me up and I can show you some good riding!
