North San Francisco Bay Tour, The start of something better.
Well, I just did a 280 mile "Day Tour" on my 2006 R6. I know, it isn't the ideal bike to tour. It is definitely the most difficult bike that I have toured on. But not my a huge margin since I also toured on my RC51, CBR900RR and ZX7R.
Anyway, I wont talk much so just enjoy the pics. The route was pretty basic with a small twist. San Francisco north on Hwy 1 with a side trip to Cazadero then north again to Gualala. The entire trip toook about 7.5 hours and 280 miles. ![]() Miguel ![]() Pic 1 on Hwy 1 south of Stinson Beach looking towards the Pacific. Pic 2 The town of Stinson Beach... I think. Then onto Point Reyes Station for breakfast. My favorite place since the late '80s when I used to do this ride on my FZR400. The restaurant in the Station House. "I'll have the two eggs over medium with bacon and wheat".
![]() As you probably know Sunday is a popular day out here for riders. It was a little slow this morning. Usually there are more bikes for breakfast. Although known to hae a rider crowd once a week. This area attracts usually attracts a more conservative group of family folk. Miguel Last edited by Cafe Racer; 02-26-2009 at 10:13 PM.. |

Really nothing to fear. Just a fierce looking R6 and a guy in leathers. How dangerous can that be?
![]() Anyway onward north and some great pictures opportunities along the Sonoma County Coastline. I was really starting to feel as if I was far away from The City. Miguel Last edited by Cafe Racer; 02-26-2009 at 10:13 PM.. |

Eastbound on Hwy 116 and then the cutoff towards Cazedero. Nice town. Very quiet. I ended up on Kings Ridge Road which would bring me back to the coastline. Only 16 miles of twisties that felt like 50 miles of bumpy blind cornered roads. But the view at the top was spectacular.
![]() I took a nice long needed break and unpacked my coffee and snacks. It was a good time for me to just sit in utter silence and think about "all that sh*t that has happened" in my life. Yes, there has been alot too. Miguel Last edited by Cafe Racer; 02-26-2009 at 10:13 PM.. |

The road down was alot nicer. Things smoothed out but there was the occassional pickup truck taking up the entire road. Otherwise it was quite pleasent.

Back on Hwy 1 towards Gualala. No real reason to go there. But for some resaon I felt that I needed too. Back in 1990 my friends took me on my first really long ride. It was the standard Sunday Morning Ride but we rode all the way to Gualala. It was cold and pouring rain during that ride. I remember it very well as they were on their BMW GS's. I was on my FZR400. They were teaching me to ride. I guess they did a good job because I never crashed.
![]() Anyway, I felt I needed to go back to Gualala just because... Maybe it reminded me of days when I was young and a new rider. Maybe it is because I will be getting married this week? ![]() ![]() So, I guess this trip did mean a little more then just another sportbike day tour. It is sort of an end to an era. But certainly a beginning to another. And yes there will be more rides in my future. Miguel Last edited by Cafe Racer; 02-26-2009 at 10:13 PM.. |

Nice one! Nothing like a good adventure ride to help put life in perspective.
You can do alot of thinking inside a helmet. Good luck with the wife!

Nice pics....I was at Point Reyes Station in the above pic with the NBSR crew. The blue triumph with pink lips on it is one of the ladies in our group!!

That second pic looks like the bike is suspended above the ground.
