Talking 2008 "RydTher Rally" -- Hawthorne, NV!!! (Sept. 5, 6 and 7)

We are proud to announce the very first BARF rally – 2008 Yosemite/Sierra.

Ever wondered what sport-touring is all about? We have plenty of riding, eating, and sightseeing fun in store for you.

If you can only manage a hall pass for two days, no problem – book a room for Saturday, and ride out to Hawthorne, Nevada for the event’s dinner celebration that evening. On Sunday, enjoy some company for a visit to the best preserved ghost town in California -- Bodie State Park, and for the trip home.

Come and meet your fellow BARFers and BARFettes. Come for the fun and company.

Dates: September 5 ~ 7 (Fri., Sat., and Sun.)
Destination: Yosemite, Hawthorne, NV., and Eastern Sierra
Estimated 3-Day Mileage: 800+ miles

Rally itineraries and details (meeting time/location, routes, and more) are being PM'd to participants today, 8/25. If you don't receive one by the morning of 8/26, please contact NoGall.

(Please note that this is not an organized or guided group-riding event. There are no officially designated leads or sweeps. This is a rally with pre-determined routes, common points-of-interest and destination for the participants. The official daily starting point and time are provided to allow the participants the greatest opportunity to enjoy the company of other BARFers and BARFettes along the way for the duration of the rally. Participants are free to band into groups of their own choosing, and at their own risk.)

Make your reservations for 9/5 and 9/6/2008 now!!!
El Capitan Resort-Casino
Hawthorne, Nevada at Walker Lake
$38.00 + tax per night, ask for "BARF Motorcycle Group" discount.

Photo document your BARF Rally experience. Create a trip report on BARF by 9/11/2008 for a chance to win a trackday with ZoomZoom.

Participant Responsibilities:
Sign-in and Check-in:
Rally itineraries and details (meeting time/location, routes, and more) are being PM'd to participants today, 8/25. If you don't receive one by the morning of 8/26, please contact NoGall.

Early Departure
If, for any reason, you decide to depart early from the rally, you must notify a rally coordinator, or ask another participant to relay your intent to a rally coordinator.

What’s a Rally?
This is not an organized or guided group-riding event. There are no designated leads or sweeps. This is a rally with pre-determined routes, common points-of-interest and destination for the participants. The daily starting point and time are provided to allow the participants the greatest opportunity to enjoy the company of other BARFers and BARFettes along the way for the duration of the rally. Participants are free to band into groups of their choosing, and at their own risk.

You are responsible for yourself.
Riding a motorcycle is dangerous. You are responsible for your own safety. Proper riding gear, a valid CDL/M1, vehicle registration and proof of insurance are highly recommended. In short, YOU are the Captain of your own ship.

Expenses
You are responsible for your own expenses. Budget for lodging, park fee(s), gas, food, beverages, and anything you may need along the way accordingly.

Rally Master and Coordinators:
Budman
Enchanter
Mortifer
Nogall
Rel
Silversvs
Wackyiraqi

List of Participants:
Make your lodging reservation, then PM that information (number of nights, and if you are sharing with another) along with your full name, mobile number, and a contact in the event of emergency to NoGall. Only then will he update the list of participants.

Sounds awesome!!!!

Unfortunately, I am leaving the Yay Area in early August.

The wife is retiring from the Air Force, and we will be moving to Illinois, so she can go to school.

I want to do another ride through the passes before I leave.

Awesome! I'm 99% sure I'll be there! Nice work folks.

And if my GF doesn't make the trip I can offer a lift into Bodie for one of you dirt-fearin' folks as I'll be on the KTM.

A pity that will conflict with classes for me - and I doubt I could afford it anyway.

Another time.

Holy Fuckballs, It's in September. I don't even know what I have to do next week, much less in 5 months.

But I'm subscribed,

I'll know more as the event gets closer.

By the way for those with no-shit dual sports there are two ways to get to Bodie. The long way that's 50 some odd miles the last three of which are well groomed gravel, and the short way that's 30 miles of dirt, with about three creek crossings.

Details appreciated (here, via PM, now/later/whenever) as that sounds delightful. Thanks!

So what you're trying to say is that there's a boring way to Bodie and a fun way to Bodie .
