Product Review: 2009 Sidi Power Glove

Just received the latest Sidi Power Gloves for 2009 and like em enough that I sold my Held Krypton and Alpinestar GP Pro since I know I'll be using the Sidi everyday....

Soft and easy break in unlike the Held which even after a year of use still felt too stiff and more room for my palms than the Alpinestar GP Pro's...Good feedback on the controls and despite the vents, my hands weren't as cold as the Krypton or sweaty like in the Alpinestars...

Palms double layered with kevlar stitching...extra padding at the outside of the palm area and alongside the hand....

each fingers have an extra padding on the digits with a knuckle guard...

the wrist gauntlet is roomy enough to wear over an aerostich , leathers, and textile jackets whereas my Held and Alpinestar was better off with slimmer sleeves from leathers...extra padding and an added plastic layer on the outside of the wrist for more protection...

has a trimming that seems reflective but haven't notice it much during night riding...

while the cost is $185 , it's still somewhat in the ballpark of both my old Held and Alpinestar but more comfortable for everyday use which I use it for due to it's comfort...

sizes run the generic S, M, L, XL, XXL and it's true to fit for those with wide hands similar to the Held...

overall a good glove and can be found anywhere that sells the Sidi boots but I don't think all the stores in the U.S have them in just yet...

outta 5 only due to price but I'm loving these so far...

Sidi Power Gloves

* Constructed of goat hide for a soft and supple fit
* Thermoplastic protection panels on the knuckles, fingers, back of hand, and wrist
* Extra thermoplastic protection on the outside of the little finger
* Extensive reflective strips throughout the glove
* Palm area is reinforced with a high grip panel for the ultimate in control
* Kevlar stitching in the vulnerable palm area
* External seams in the fingers area
* Vented on the inside of the fingers, knuckle and back of hand areas
* Breathable lining
* Double stitched on all major seams
* Dual wrist closures

Good looking glove. Black and white the only colors? Might just have to suck it up and go with black if thats the case...

I'm sure they would look great with my extended chrome swing arm and 340 fattie.

it's their only sportbike oriented gloves ...they do have a 3/4 glove road glove (Coibuss Gloves) and winter gloves (Abiss Gloves) for this year...

For $185 I'd at least expect Kanagaroo leather. To my knowledge goatskin, while more supple, is no stronger than cow hide.

while true, I had a few kangaroo skin Held gloves disolve on its own from the inside out due to sweat....seems like manufacturers don't treat the inside as they do the exterior of gloves ...

but the held's work on the track which I can testify to from years past...

as for the sidi, I'm not gonna claim they protect well and hopefully I don't have to test them ...

eventually I will criticize or commend them if they begin to fall apart or don't protect as my hopes in one of those "just in case" moments but for now they're comfortable and my rides these days are more commuting and sightseeing rather than in attack mode...

but the price... hopefully some shops will offer discounts for fellow BARFers....

Keep an eye on the stitching, I wore them for a few months and one track day accident free and the stitching came loose on the base of my middle finger. When I returned them as a warranty claim, it seems someone had returned an identical pair of Power gloves with the same issue earlier that day, but way worse than mine. Don't get me wrong, these gloves are an absolute pleasure to wear, but for the price and the fact that I have two other pairs of gloves with way more miles on them costing a quarter to half the price of the Powers that have never given me an issue , this concerns me. Since Sidi is not producing these gloves themselves, I hope whoever they have contracted for production fixes these problems. These are awesome gloves.

I had the unfortunate mishap of colliding with a deer a few weeks ago...totalled my motorcycle but I came out fine ...thank goodness for good gear...

the power gloves gauntlet did it's job of saving my wrists...the plastic guards were shaved down to the leathers...

the padding on the palms came off on both sides..or rather wore down but the second layer saved any road rashes from my hand...

all the "extra" paddings on the sides did well too...

I was so impressed and happy, I bought another pair..
