Flew to Ireland, rented a Transalp. Ireland is made for motorcycles, twisty narrow roads with good surface quality. Drivers travel at 100 mph on roads that are only one U.S. lane width wide for vehicle traveling both directions. Nothing is more frightening than to be 200 feet from a turn, see a Renault hatchback airborne coming around the corner at speed.

1. Camping on the Larne Peninsula, NI, UK

2. Giants Causway Coastal Route, I think there were 3 of these arches.

3. Giants Causeway

4. Another Giants Causeway. this is a naturally occuring phenomenon.

I rented a car for a few days also and did some kayaking and hiking. The reflectors are patriotic in ireland.

I was exhausted as can be seen by my tired face below....

Amazing!

Props to you and your adventure spirit!

Don't they call that stone formation devils post pile here in the U.S.?

And-

Is it true or false that the food is no good in Ireland?

The Irish are great hosts.

I rented the motorcycle from the only Rental outlet in the Republic that carries more than 2 motorcycles.

http://www.motorental.ie/

Paul and his staff were fantastic, gave routing advice, the motorcycle was in tip top shape. It is a little difficult to find, so accept his offer to pick you up from the bus stop. Most of the bikes come with a full set of hard luggage. The transalp had a lot of room for storage. Paul will also store you non motorcycle luggage. I brought my own gear, but he has everything for rent as well.

The exchange rate was a bit in the dumps when I went, Ireland is really, really expensive.

The tombs were varied, some were passage tombs, and some were caps. My understanding is that many in Ireland are more elaborate, and predate the Egyptian pyramids. One could spend months visiting them all, and a lot of them are on private land. The Carrowkeel tombs are on private land, the owner allows visitors, on top of a mountain are a little off the beaten path, definately worth checking out.

I enjoyed the food, I didn't eat out a lot though, lunches were pricey 11-15 euro which is more than $20 for most places.:|

I even tried supermac (Irish Mcdonalds), ick.

I didn't get any really good pics of the Torrs head road in Antrim, due to a huge rainstorm, but the road is about 8-10 feet wide and is on sheer cliffs and climbs and drops like a roller coaster along the coastline.
