Mellow Group Ride Sunday 10/23 "Larry Farewell"

Meet Place: Starbucks (1197 East Calaveras Boulevard, Milpitas, CA 95035)
Meet Time: 9:00 AM, kickstands (KSU) up 9:30 AM (Please be on time)

NOTE: Stop in Castro Valley for Thai food. LINK

  • Arrive with a full tank of gas before KSU. There is a station across the street from Starbucks.
  • Make sure your bike is in good operating condition.
  • As usual we will break into groups depending on who shows up (to accommodate varying skill levels) if necessary. Everyone is expected to ride within their comfort level.
  • Safety is our priority.
  • Experienced riders who wants to ride a mellow pace are always welcome.
  • Volunteers for lead and sweep always welcome and appreciated.
  • Goal is for newbies & not so newbies to have a safe fun ride, learn new routes and meet new riders. Maybe, even learn from the more experienced riders.
  • We will be making 3 planned stops to regroup and stretch any soar legs.
  • All riding levels are welcome, Mellow pace required. PM or post if you have concerns.

For those of you that know Larry "Doghouse" here on BARF, this is Larry's last ride, for now, as he is hanging up his helmet after a few crashes. He may be back, he may not... but this is being treated as his last Mellow ride. If you have been on a ride with Larry in the past, get your ass out for this ride! Give everyone this link, get them out for a day in the twisties.

Route: (75 Miles, 3 hour seat time.)

Calaveras, Palomares, Redwood, LUNCH, Palomares, END.

sorry to miss this. best of luck until we ride again larry. thanks for posting bryan!

there is a year long dam construction project on calaveras road, though closures are not scheduled for the weekends. expect mud, sand and gravel at best on an already technical and compromised road, what with 300.000 cubic yards of imported materials. heads up!

I was just on Calaveras last weekend, it was relatively okay. Two noticeable spots with light gravel, but it wasn't bad at all.

Guess I can make my overnighter a one day extravaganza.
See y'all there

I'm 90% committed.

Just did the same route with Steve808 a week ago (Palomeras was closed tho, should be open now).

Larry!

Sad to see you go. As much as I would love to be there it looks like I will be in Tahoe this weekend

Maybe you can meet us up at Starbucks soon and we can have an afternoon espresso after another ride

Thanks for setting this ride up Bryan. If any of you newbies haven't ridden with BigB or schumacher62 before, great place to get started.
