Gary Jaehne's Memorial Ride. May 19th! - BARF

Hi All:

We would like to welcome you to help celebrate Gary J’s wonderful life! Below are the details for Gary’s Memorial Ride to be held on Sunday, May 19th, 2013.

First and foremost, it cannot be stressed enough that this day is meant for all to be together to pay tribute to Gary. Please ride safe and ride your own ride! The perfect end to this day is for everyone to get home to their loved ones. Gary would have stressed that! All are encouraged to set up their own group rides.

Jill would like to first meet up at Alice’s/STP at 11:00 a.m. We will gather in Memoriam for Gary in the STP parking lot (too much of a liability to have it on the triangular piece of land in between each place given the amount of people we will have) and release butterflies in his honor. I think she may have a special surprise for each of us to put on our bikes too

After the ceremony, we can head out to enjoy our favorite roads on the way to Pescadero State Beach where we will end with a Hot Dog/Chips/Drink lunch gathering (same place as Memorial last year). Santa Clara Cycles is helping to sponsor this (Thanks Greg!). On the way, Jill will be stopping by the crash site and welcomes anyone who wants to stop by but wishes for everyone to be careful in that area!

I will need some help if anyone wants to cage it that day. If anyone is available to help me with a few items, please let me know via phone (408) 426-0696 or email at mkeays@comcast.net I need sign-ups for:

E-Z Ups (2)—bring, setup/breakdown

Tables ((2) preferably 6 foot)—bring, setup/breakdown

Food—I will be purchasing Hot Dogs/Chips and bottled waters. I need someone to pick it up from me to take to the site that day.

Chefs—Someone willing to cook dogs

Clean-up Crew—This is extremely important. The Rangers at Pescadero State Beach were pleased with the clean-up crew at the ceremony last year. If we want to keep coming back, we need to make sure that all is clean when we leave.

All:

First and foremost, we are still in need for volunteers to help at the Pescadero site. Please see below for what is needed and contact me if you can spare a few hours to help make this event successful. Thank you!

At 11:00 a.m. sharp, we will begin with the Butterfly Ceremony and then hand out a few items for our bikes to show our “Gary” spirit. In addition, Jill has prepared an extremely special and personal surprise for everyone. This surprise will help each of us pay special tribute to Gary in our own way.

To make absolute sure that everyone is included we will need a headcount. I will be posting a separate thread in Group Rides with a Poll to serve as an RSVP. We don’t want anyone to miss out on this opportunity!!

The rest of the itinerary will stay the same. After the Ceremony, continue on your own rides. Feel free to stop by the crash site (SAFELY, Jill will be there for an hour). Swing by Pescadero State Beach between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. for a free hot dog, bag of chips and a water—Thank You Santa Clara Cycles!!!!

We look forward to seeing everyone, paying special tribute to Gary and everyone having a wonderful and safe day!
