Its here.... my favorite time of the year, the OUTdoors Motocross season!

Starts up this Saturday at Fox Raceway (Pala) in SoCal. :party

No east/west with the 250F riders, we get them all racing for two motos on each weekend. Should be a bevy of Star Yamaha's racing up front in the 250Fs. Will rookie Nate Thrasher be a regular on the podium? Will Mitch's PC Kawi riders stay healthy and challenge them? Will a couple of Aussie brothers on Honda's keep the pace outdoors? Will our own NorCal's Mosiman and Pacific Northwest rider Brown on Gas Gas's get up there? Will Max Vohland, the second generation of NorCals Vohland brothers mix it up?

Its ridiculous the number of stories and stacked teams the 250s will bring us. As crazy as that sounds, the 450s might be even MORE stacked. I have to go back to the 70's and 80's to remember a season where there are more FACTORY riders on 450s, and factory riders that actually have a shot of being on the podium on any given weekend. 2021 is going to be a barnstormer! :ride:thumbup

What do folks think? Who is going to challenge Osborne, last years 450s champion? Who is going to rise to the top of the 250s? Will PC challenge Star Racing Yamaha?

Here is a great preview of the 450 season from RacerX.

Giddy up.

Ozbourne is going to be challenged to repeat.
Others elevated in SX this year and I expect that to carry over. We know how good Ferrandis is outdoors too ( no French remark bro! :teeth)

Tomac, Musquinn, Webb ...on and on. 10 plus bad ass motoX mofos lining up each week. Stoked!!

Is there a streaming deal? I am so out of it due to the 7 day a week thing.

PeacockTV for $4.99 a month (same as supercross.) :thumbup :party

Thank you. Question. Live only??

If so I miss the shit.

AFT for 1:99 is barely worth it.

Nope, both live and stream anytime (and cancel anytime.) The only drawback on the live stream is you can't rewind or fast forward. Not an issue if you watch later, which I normally do.

I'm excited for the start of the MX Nationals to start! Should be great racing .. got my Peacock ready!

I ( along with a lot of other people ) have questions on a few key players:

K-Roc ... will Kenny be able to come out and show speed and desire for the entire season? Will he throw in the towel and have mystery physical issues and sit out the rest of the season?

Cooper Web : How motivated is he going to be to hang it out to get this title?

Austin Forkner : Can he push the speed envelope and not end up on his head? Blazing fast, but Forkner is fragile AF! When you have a talented model GF at home, at least your in good hands when you are hurt :thumbup!

I'm with you, lots of questions are going to be answered in the next few months.

I'm an Osbourne fan due to his late moto charges and the his whole storyline leading up to the his 1st 450 championship... but sounds like he is still nursing a pretty serious back injury. The guy digs deep... will it be enough? While I cheer for him, be tough to call him a favorite for the title. Hope I'm wrong.

Tomac has signed with Star Yamaha after the outdoors. Will he be as motivated as ever to win?

Even if Roczen races the whole summer, will he hold up to the pressure from Webb or another strong contender. Can't help but believe he folded under Webb in Supercross this season.

Musquin is racing for $$ and another year on KTM. He was looking strong at the end of Supercross and has always been a strong outdoor rider.

The outdoors tend to be more forgiving albeit much higher speeds, and Bam Bam is ham fisted with his right wrist. Wouldnt surprise me at all if we wins a couple and is in contention for a period of the series. Plus I love all things Troy Lee and the Gas Gas is the best looking bike out there... even if just a red KTM.

Is Plessinger confirmed for next year with Star Yamaha? With the addition of Tomac next season, I've got to believe he will be racing for a contract.

Or will it be someone from the next generation? Both AC and Sexton have shown they have the speed outdoors, it could be their year. I'm hoping Ferrandis is healthy, and with the time on the 450 more comfortable to compete at an even higher level outdoors.

As for the 250's, I'm going to go out on a limb and say it will be a Blue Bike winning the championship.... :laughing

Good call on going out on a limb. Except Jett!

Kid looked good.

Blue looked solid in the 450's.
Tomac looks like he needs some blue.

AC.. man.. kid is fast but... eliminate the but and rock it young man!

That track was knarly ass shit.

Good fun.

Yeh, Jett was ripping. Fun personality too, going to be a future star for sure.

I was absolutely screaming with Max Vohland out front in that first 250 moto. So bummed the bike let go...... just read his longtime mechanic was fired over the wknd due to that. Like to be a fly on the wall to know what happened under the KTM tent. So STOKEd for him.

Other than Max, our true rookie, no one else was running the pace of Jeremy Martin, Justin Cooper, or Jett Lawrence. Honestly expected more, perhaps after folks know where they are, adjustments will be made to gain some time on on the track. Pro Circuit guys....... cough.

Ferrandis looked great with his first overall win, as did Plessinger. There is a video floating around where Ferrandis says the 450 might have lost so much weight under the Star program that it's actually lighter than the 250 now. :wow

I don't know what Bobby Regan is doing over at Star Racing... but he obviously knows how to run a team and get the best results. Cautiously optimistic he is going to turn around the 450 program like he has with the 250 class benchmark bikes. Go Blu!

Other highlight for me... Barcia was looking feisty making some aggressive passes, entertaining, but not stupid ones. That and he was the only rider in the Rushmore segment to acknowledge any of the greats prior to the 90's. Helped it was the Hurricane Hannah, even better. Barcia, while perhaps not a championship contender ultimately (but maybe he will), is certainly representing Gas Gas/Troy Lee well and getting recognition. :thumbup

Will Tomac just mail it in until he gets on a Yamaha this winter? Can't believe its in his DNA.

In the interim, looking forward to Thundervalley this wknd. :ride

Impressed by the French one. Ferrandis looked awesome. Plessinger I kind of expected to show up.

Osborne I did not expect. Nor Tomac....Or Musquin.
Seems a new gen is here and the old guard need to step up. Fun shit!!

Thunder Valley provided some great racing!!

Great to see a veteran back in race winning form. A rookie in the class storming through and some WTF's on other vets NOT!

250's was fun too.

Good shite!

Definitely some great racing this wknd! Some folks are reinforcing their success from Pala the week before, and others are just plain head scratchers.

For example, Cooper Webb got two good starts and went backwards to 8th. Tomac and Musquin are now regular 8-10 guys or worse? Christian Craig beat all three of them, PASSED them for the position, just didn't start ahead and stay ahead. Others did the same moving forward.

Ferrandis's start in Moto 2 was in the teens, he passed all those folks as he worked up to 2nd. Great ride from both him and Roczen. :thumbup

This is certainly a DEEP 450 field, a season of talent so close in lap times we haven't seen in decades. Its still early and perhaps things will change as we head east getting off the more hardpack tracks to those that are deeper loam. Certainly entertaining, great to see more folks competitive. Just scratching my head on the results as a number of past champions/contenders who on paper really aren't out of the ballpark on speed OR starts.

The one take away so far is that either those Yamaha 450's are hugely improved since Star taking over, or the riders are learning how to ride them (I suspect vastly improved.) The last few years, their weak point was hardpark tracks. Two such tracks this year and they are doing really well. Go Blu!

So happen for Roczen...!

Hope he can maintain and bring HRC a long over due championship.

Jalek with a moto win and the overall. :thumbup

Tomac showed he is still solid, yet flawed.
AC showed he is the talent that can’t find the magic consistency pill.

Roczen... fucking please win it. :laughing

Ferrandis I respect his speed, desire and skill. :applause

Open class KTM’s..... what da fuuuuuuck?

Just finished watching... :applause

Super stoked for Jalek on his first 250F overall win. Fun to watch young men achieve their first success. :thumbup

Little disappointed in Justin Coopers first Moto.... it's still early in the season, but he can't be off the podium in any Moto if he wants to beat Jett Lawrence this year for the Championship.

Highlight of this weekends races HAS to be the second 450 Moto. Holy shiet! :wow It was like a 250F Supercross LCQ. The battle for 2nd was insane, and at one point included four riders.... AC, Plessinger, Ferrandis, and Roczen. The eventual Roczen Ferrandis battle was brutal and tight. Fantastic show was put on.

Congrats to Ferrandis, the red plate is going to look great on his Yamaha. :thumbup

Its cool to see fans back out on the track, enjoying beverages and being loud. :party

I'm heading back to the Midwest on 7/5 for the month and almost feel like bumping up my flight and going to Red BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUD. While I'll only be an hour away for the race at Spring Creek (aka Millville), I've got a big family event that wknd.

But I'm committing to being at the final round at Hangtown. Perhaps we can get a Barf group to attend. :twofinger

I LOVe the outdoors! :ride

Open class KTM’s..... what da fuuuuuuck?

That's a huge head scratcher. Not sure if Musquin has a contract for next year or not? Webb was and has been a non factor. Barcia, basically on the same bike only with red Gas Gas plastic has been consistently better than both thus far.

Don't remember where I heard or read the rumor, but I think Plessinger is linked to Factory KTM next year. He will be fun to see under DeCosters tent if true.

Best 450 motos yet…. Ferrandis first moto charge has to be making everyone else in the field take notice. Great day for all three factory Star Yamaha 450s!

Plessinger was the clear fan favorite this 4th of July.
