It's basically one of the best rear shocks you can put onto a motorcycle. This is the higher version with adjustable high and low compression. rebound adjustment, hydraulic preload adjustment as well as height adjustablility. If you want more info, go to the manufacturers website.
This is a type 46PRXLS shock part number Ohlins-OHYA1540. Spring is a 1093-31/95 which is about 9.69KG/mm.
This was originally installed and is specifically made for a 1999-2002 Yamaha R6. It was used in poser mode for very little street miles. I then purchased it and installed it on my 2003 R6 for one track day.
Now onto the specifics as to why I'm advertising this as a 2003 shock as well. After calling ohlins USA as well as penske, the rear shocks on both bikes are very similar minus the following exceptions:
* 2002 shock is 10mm longer (but if you have a 2003 and add a 70 series up front, it'll even it out)
* The bottom eye bolt on the 2002 is actually wider. I mounted this shock on my 2003 using washers and it worked outu fine
* The bottom eye bolt on the 2002 has an opening for a larger bolt. This was no issue as there is no movement of the eyebolt once installed
* Valving etc is the same except the resevoir location is horizontal vs. vertical
I would like to keep this shock, but I'm a novice track rider and I didn't notice any HUGE difference to justify the costs. I would like to put the money into more trackdays. The spring is also a tad stiff for me as I couldn't get the free sag I was looking for. I'm 150lb with gear.
Price is $700 for BARFers
