Ooof. I saw a FB post from one of our local former racer guys that he lost two close friends over the last couple of days. Not sure if any of the ones you posted are same or not.

Re clusters - I wonder if it’s at all related to IMG_1513.jpeg

I drove past that one too. Looks like he drifted wide as 680 curved to the right and he went straight into the end cap of the guardrail.

It seems like a lot of fatalities this summer, but I can't remember if it was the same 20 years ago or if there are more recently. :dunno
 
I think it was about the same in feels but probably slightly higher #’s. I really do remember going :wtf back then.

Led to 1Rider actually.
 
I may be completely off-base for these incidents. I am concerned in any event about the number of social media videos of a bunch of stupid riding by younger (under 40 yo) riders influencing what other younger riders think riding on the street is about. Harleys or sport bikes. And so many showing all black gear on all black bikes. Mix this in with new cars and all the "drivers aids" creating drivers even less involved with their driving responsibilities and we'll see what happens to accident/fatality rates. Not optimistic...
 
I found that color absolutely made a difference with how many see you. My yellow bike was clearly much more visible than my brown, silver, red and blue bikes.

My Goldwing is almost as big as some cars, so there's less of a problem of not being seen.

In the daytime, orange stands out from the background best followed by yellow. Red quite a bit less than either. I used to ride a red bike with a red helmet, but it's all orange and yellow now.

People joke about my orange top case, because it stands out much more than black would, but I'll take any advantage that I can to be seen sooner.

Still, unfortunate that riders are dying...

I had a red bike and had plenty of people obviously not see me, my next bike was yellow and the different was quite stark.

Scott, that orange bike REALLY stands out! :thumbup

Too bad they didn't make orange goldwings! :laughing
 
One of the scariest stretches of Highway, Aggressive, incompetent drivers, giant trucks, debris, poorly maintained roadway, a bane.

When the best thing you can say is "I hope he/she didn't suffer."

I see that Sturgis has already had multiple motorcycle deaths so far this year, and it has nothing to do with visibility, I'm sure. I don't want to be anywhere near that crowd on a bike or in a 4-wheeler.
 
Summer construction ?

I will admit there is a hooligan that zips out of his 'stitch, and starts burning off his rear tire,
Wheelies, donuts, when they arrive in camp, , ,

Ages and times returning, to Sturgis, of these fatalities.
I'm thinking young, and first time, without riding all the way there & back.

Snapping drive belts really kill your week.

Two lost it in Az last week, my count from Az, about 7 so far this year.

Looks like we're at nine so far this year in Idaho. The one that really bothers me happened on June 16 when three got killed when a pickup truck crossed the center line to pass somebody in a no passing zone. They would have to have been "riding in formation" for the truck to get all of them. Yet another reason to spread out when in a group.
