Thanks for the info Butch. 22 years and counting since OHMVR Div bought the Tesla property. It would be only fair to get something in the Bay Area for the 18 mil OHMVR Div of Cal Parks got for the Tesla Expansion area Sept '21. Total cronyism at work. Im still not over that, but this is a step in the right direction.

Pretty amazing. We just need to be as rich as Garamendi. Or that other dude. Conolly or something. And be able to gather all our friends to do something. Or something

And yet, use of the property is still being debated.
…CAMTB encourages you to express your support for classifying Alameda-Tesla Park as a State Park with sub-unit classifications where needed to protect sensitive natural and cultural resources.

I did not see moto’s in the link.

Am I missing something??

Yes, by classifying it as a “reserve” in order to “protect” biological diversity it unlocks and further blows the doors off of protectants in place regarding powered outdoor recreation.

No, Garamendi made sure there are no motos. She wants it preserved for her cattle and elk hunting operationx. Mountain bikers have some interest. I am speculating a bit here.

The deadline for the CA State Parks Survey has been extended to the end of this month!
BTCEB has a good explanation, including a link to the survey (from State Parks), and the CAMTB advocacy note (which sends email to leadership at State Parks and legislators).

Yes, the neighbors and some groups have collaborated so, by law, this is not an OHV area.

What's next is that State Parks will propose a classification as something else.

A "preserve" is the most exclusive thing. This would limit human access the most. This is what the neighbor seems to want--no one near them.

A "state park" allows for much more access, including bicycles, mountain bikes, etc. It also allows for areas of higher protection for special places. Yes, a "state park" is a type of state park!

The 'state park' classification what the mountain bikers are advocating for--the most access which is likely to succeed. There are organized groups opposing this, which is why it's important to make your voice heard for access.

So please fill out the survey and send a message to the broader group of people who make decisions on this.

Thank you for posting!

Its a lost cause,

They have already won when they made sure the land purchase under the OHV funds was never able to be used as intended for OHV recreation, the rest is just semantics to them. Good Luck.

In case this post survives for a long time - If you want to be able to use LAND how you want to in this country BETTER make sure its PRIVATE TRUST.

The OHV fund is so misused in this state its pretty much a joke at this point. IMO.
