Are the PB bikes with lights street legal?

Probably not a DOT headlight and tailight. However, that didn't stop me from getting my motard plated. :)

You could probably get it plated, if you just make it a "moped" because it's under 50cc's. Same thing for xr50's. Just need DOT approved gear and the stuff on the checklist. Hi/Lo beam, Hi beam indicator, tail light. I don't think turn signals are even on there.

no go. a moped in california must have working pedals. it would have to be registered as a motor driven scooter or something like that. if at all possible. do these things have vin's? if not I guess the state could issue. I really think a waste of time though.

the bigger bikes with lights aren't legal.

bikes like the ysr50 or nsr50 are legal if you have a plate on it and register it. BUt thsoe things come with a VIN on it.

An xr50 is questinoable since it comes with an off-road sticker right?

some xr's have been plated with addition of the baja light kit. xr's don't come with any stickers, that gets issued by the dmv when you off road register it.

There are plenty of places around the bay area selling these. Mostly seen in shopping malls?!?!

Also some moto shops are selling them as well.

NO they are not street legal, although LEO's are looking at these things as if they are gopeds.

PB W/ headlights

From what I heard... unless the cops just want to be dicks they will leave you alone as long as you stay under 20mph on the public streets. Basicly obey laws as if you were a scooter, ride in bike lane, helmet, etc... some cities do have ordinances like Fremont where all PB & mini choppers are illegal and that is str8 from their Police dept. which is funny because my friend saw someone riding the mini chopper across the street from the Police Dept.
ok thats all :)

i think you could make it street legal, but you'd probably have to get turn signals for it, head/rear lights, and side mirriors for it to be considered a bike. but a ysr would be crazy to drive on the streets or bike lane. san francisco roads will own you with potholes and cracks. plus them dumbass drivers might not see you. i wouldnt do it, but you can. good luck =P
