They are so cheap compared to rest of the major brands and quality wise they are ok from my opinion, but what do you guys think? Anyone else own/wear Bilt gear and want to add anything on thier products?

I have a Bilt helmet and gloves, went from astar gloves to Bilt and felt the quality was a step below, but cannot say how it compares to the astars in terms of protection. My aplinestar gloves were fine in a 50 something mph highside and i braced my landing with my palms too. Only a small rip on them but i decided to replace them with the cyclegear Bilt gloves since they were so cheap.

i had bought some bilt gloves for the same reason you did. they fell apart in a week just from normal riding. i retuned them and bought some astars. the palms started to fray so i then bought some arlen ness gloves. much better product imo. you get what you pay for.

you get what you pay for.

Pretty much.

I wouldn't trust built gear in a high speed crash myself. Of course factors are at play. Speed, How you would land, or where you would land but you can't predict how hard you may ever go down. So in that case you're better off protecting yourself to the fullest extent ahead of time.

ive been down a hand full of times...after the first time when i skidded down the road and was unharmed due to my nice leather dainese coat and stars gloves im not going with anything less,(the coat was'nt nice after

Cycle gear brand jacket, gloves, helmet, and leather pants saved my ass during a 40 mph low side. I slid 20 ft on the pavement and got up without a scratch.

My friend's gloves by Bilt fell apart in about a month or so I think. The wrist area ripped off where you usually grab to pull the glove down onto your hands. Not sure about their jackets though, I read somewhere (forgot where, maybe 600rr.net) that someone had the Bilt or Sedici suit and low-sided on it and the butt area ripped open. But like others pointed out, a lot of factors are in play during a fall. Maybe more people with experience with the brand can chip in more.

I had a pair of bilt gloves at first also cuz I didn't think they were that important. But your hands are often the first part of your body thats gonna touch the ground if you fall and bad gloves may send that shock straight into your wrists, rip open, or send you tumbling.

I would definitely research into what makes a good glove and decide for yourself whether or not the protection is worth the money to you.

The BILT helmets feel considerbaly cheaper than Shoei or the like. I was going to get one as a passenger spare but went for an on sale Bell that was $30 more.
Scorpian is the lowest Id go for my personal helmet.

Terye all equally safe. Te better it fits the safer it is. I'm only concnerned with comfort. I need to be comfy every day but I couldn't care less if padding scratches chicky for 20 minutes twice a month.

I have a pair of the street waterproof boots and they are dry and warm, but i have returned them once all ready because of the inner linning falling apart.

If you have several pairs of gloves, you will always end up wearing the good pair. At the same time, it is better to have gear than no gear at all. You decide what is good enough gear.

so far the worst problem i have had with my bilt riding pants is the only snap on the front does not hold up to any stress. like bending over to pull on a boot.
no pockets on the outside, no belt loops.
will not buy them again.
but i love my tour-master jacket. warm and cozy in the winter,(with added layers) and cool in the summer.

money keeps me from investing in many items so get to live with what i have for now. but both items do work to keep me warm on those cold am rides.(down to below +30F plus wind chill). problem i have is good gloves as my hands get cold way to easily, just bought a pair of alpinestars (gore-tex thinsulate) but even they need something more as the seams tend to leak cold air into them.

.

your helmet is not something to be cheap about!:shame

OHHH!! really hmmpp i got a shoei x-11 and a scorpion 1000exo helmet.and i'll wear my scorpion more than my shoei:rolleyes they both are snell & dot approved,

I ditched my $400 Shoei RF1000 for a $100 Scorpion EXO-400 that fit me better. If it's DOT and Snell/ECE approved, I feel safe wearing any.

I like my RF900/1000 soon to be 1100 or whatever theyre up to just slightly more than my EXO700. I havn't tried on the latest from Shoei yet but if it fits my head worse, Ill probably get another Scorpian......I don't really care what personal helmet costs either.

All I can say is, if you feel like your cranium and your hide is worth $99, then go on and wear it. But in my 30 years of riding, it holds true that you get what you pay for.

I just ordered a scorpion 400 for $50 and a shoie for $400.
I don think theres any safety difference. I just dont wanna scratch the shoie/wear out padding by taking it to work everyday.

Most of their jackets seems good enough for one time use. To be honest, i dont wanna show up to a restaurant in a rashed up, covered on oil jacket anyway.

but Im also the guy who smashed my bike hard on Sharp Park wearing normal khaki's and still made it to running practice on time.

If you are a very hard to fit person, and need to continue searching around for something that fits very well, and all you can find in your size is cheap Bilt stuff locally, then it might be worth it to buy for now vs. wearing jeans, a Member's only jacket, and tassel loafers (just an example, not making a dig at you).

I was going to say that cranium shouldn't apply here, since I have a Shoei and had Arai in the past. However, I did have a HJC for awhile as my no-frills, around the City helmet.

My Bilt gloves, let's just say when I was looking at them last week, I was completely unimpressed and actually kind shocked I had bought them (like 8 months ago). :wtf
