Anyone else do this? In 2026, with California the center of the Tech world, it boggles the mind you sign up and then wait several months for it to, ya know, work. Anyone think this will really make a difference? Unscientifically, I seem to be get many more spam hits a day since signing up...maybe double. Are you?

Call centers that were given the information then had guaranteed #s that would answer. What they pay big bucks for, well damn, the gov't was giving it to them for free.

And...

Certain businesses are allowed to cold call. Why bother when there is a list! Medical, pollsters and political entities get to hammer your number. Give them a list not to call and that's OK because, it's allowed.

Penalty for non-compliance? Ha! Fold tent on a regular basis anyway. New name, new 'product', same bovine excrement.
 
No, have not signed up for it. The Drop thing has been around since 2023 and why weren't these data brokers been required to delete records for individuals in California? Should have been an automatic "Opt Out / Delete" from the get go. But NO each individual has to request a "Delete my info" request. Also, why the FAWK are these data brokers only required to check the platform and act on requests every 45 days after August 1, 2026 and up to 90 days to officially report the outcome of that deletion to consumers? And it's not clear as to what happens to your data if it's moved and/or located in another state or country?
