Cleaning helmet liners

I did get serious about rinsing out the foam pads, my third shot of washing, it got way more dirty water out by resqueezing it all, until flowing clear rinse.
It has been sitting on a shelf for over a year now, ready for my return to Ca.

I put mine in a pillow case and throw it in the washer on gentle cycle. If too nasty (mold) I just replace the liner.

I don't put my Thailand helmet back together once dry (humidity), storing it in pieces where it gets good airflow.

The FG17 was discontinued a few years ago. It might be time for a new helmet anyway.

I used to take my helmet into the shower and wash the insides with shampoo. Don’t forget the straps and the strap covers as those can get rank. Never did it more than twice a year.

Couple of things.
If I get a helmet I really like, I'll buy 1.or 2 sets of liners/pads for it.
Manufacturers often stop making spares shortly after a new model comes out.

Regular cleaning?
Woolite and pure sunshine for regular cleaning.
When they get beyond that, just change the inside parts.
Or...
If you don't still like that helmet..

Bin it.
