How many years should riding boots last?

Mine lasted right up until I lowsided and the brake lever punched through the boot and just a tad into my foot.
 
Interesting. I guess I need to buy better boots. Sole of current ones are shot after about 18 months.

Of course, I also wear them while at work, which is probably hard on the soft soles.
 
I will never buy another Alpinestars product.

I contacted this number and they can't even tell me if they will replace the soles. They want pictures. The boots are fine. It's the lousy inadequate soles that are worn out before their time.
They can't tell me if they can sell me soles to install myself. I don't want to pay for shipping for a DIY job. It's frigging thin - CHEAP rubber glued to plastic, for Kenny Roberts' sake. This isn't honing cylinders for new pistons!!!!

I have thousands of dollars of Alpinestars crap. NEVER - EVER will I give them one more dime. Later I will discuss my true feelings about this company. :x
