if the color orange is called orange why isn't yellow called banana?

cuz yellow was named long before bananas were found by white people? also, not all bananas are yellow.

Don't know the answer, but I do know that an orange is hands down my very favorite fruit. LOVE 'em!!! :banana

Chartreuse is an interesting name. I'm a big fan of green in general. Always had pretty good luck using a chartreuse one of these while trolling for trout. :thumbup

I was always curious why the French word for pineapple was so different as they normally are similar
eg
potato
pomme de terre (earth apple)

I was a chef for almost 10 years; things interest me
