Is this a cool place to make a 3-point u-turn?

Apparently, CA lets you cross the DY to do so... That seems lame. It was heavy traffic and many locked brakes on the downhill as the u-turner was waiting for an opening... I suspect both directions had to stop for that performance...

That's a demerit. Came upon and idiot making a k turn on skyline in the fog around a blind corner once, I was not amused

I have seen an idiot middle of no where U turn stick nut more than once.

One time on 9 they signaled right went into the dirt and immediately made a U turn in front of multiple bikes following. Total fuck stick!!

Every person who makes a U turn is responsible for everyone’s safety. Including those they haven’t seen or even know are using the road. That is why I will continue on until I find a safe place to exit the road and then reenter the road going the other direction. No surprises for anyone.

And that road is wide enough to not need a 3 point turn. Just check for traffic coming from both directions and execute a standard U turn.

Man, that image gave me a PTSD flash. A friend had his life changed by a U turning truck on a blind curve that was also a crew cab white Ford. Ended his riding and working career.
Happened right in front of me.

Same. Not even a blind curve- wide open rural highway- F350 makes a right turn after signalling right, only to be swinging into the turn-out to make a U-turn back onto the highway in the other direction. My friend aimed at his tail, missed the bumper by inches, wound up hitting the bar ditch around 60mph and died instantly.

RIP Trey, we miss you brother.

I was about 10 cars back pulling my boat with my GF crew cab Tacoma with 5 people and a load. I didn't know what was happening, just saw tire smoke and some pulling into the shoulder. I almost didn't have enough room to stop.

He got a full wave as he drove past me.

OK, since you are not asking about making a U turn on a motorcycle, I would wait until I came across a side road or a large enough turn out that can safely handle that beast.

Stupid is gonna stupid.
Stuff like this takes us out al too frequently.
I'm reminded of the awful Andrew Trevitt from Motorcyclist Magazine event.
It happens to the best of us....literally.
