New Zero Motorcycle Coming: Zero SR/F

And I was talking about the non-supermoto, but I should take that possible argument and toss it...

Yeah. The FXS was the one I have wheelie photos of handy, but it's not the only one that wheelies. Practical experience actually riding these motorcycles outweighs Quora conjecture. :laughing

The FXS is very easy to wheelie :) that bike is all grins

Videos of test ride crashes and reports saying that it's much harder to catch the rear than an ICE engine. Rather than a proper traction control system, Zero's controller decides how much power to give you based on formulas in which they plug in speed and throttle input -- which is also why it doesn't wheelie. I want it to cut power when it detects wheelspin, for true grit rides yo.

I've had a few wheel spins and was always able to recover them, except that one time in the wet when I thought it was in eco mode and I left in my "custom mode" :)devil mode). I goosed it going round a corner and the ground came up real fast. Wasn't thinking I'd have to be ready cause the eco mode is pretty muted.:laughing

Really? How so? Never had a problem with my Zero low siding.

I think traction control would be nice and it should be easy to implement on a EV motor, but not a necessity. A lot of EV riders

I have never low sided my Zero or lost traction in a significant way due to throttle application out of a corner (25 K miles). The Zero is much easier to control the power than the sport bikes I use to ride on the track.

I have spun up the rear launching into a wet wet intersection. That was exciting amount of fishtailing, but I kept the rubber side down.

Yeah. Until you start approaching the 40 mile mark on the trip meter. Then you're all frowns until it's charged back up.

There is a article that the Zero SR/F will have a full fairing version and have a 20 kWh battery!!!. My 2015 has a 12.5 kWh battery. Nice.

I rode one zero and it started to spin up the tire on a wet patch of road. It definitely didn't have that progressive spin-up that I am used to, since there is not much inertia to the motor.

A full fairing!? Finally!

A fairing?
Gee, who woulda thought that?

I wonder where they would ever get the inspiration to put a fairing on a Zero?
Maybe I should ask "Electric Terry" Hershner?

I really want someone to bring an electric Grom Killer to market. It would be so non intimidating and easy to ride and fun.

It could change our moto culture. And the future of the sport.

There kind of already is the CSC City Slicker, it's slower and less range though. But hey it's got a reverse function and it's supercheap at $2500

Then there's the Sur Ron with the Supermoto wheels. Hope they come out with a street legal version because in Europe they have one already. I'm pretty sure a Sur Ron would stomp a Grom until you run out of electrons I guess. But I bet I could swap a battery faster than you can fill a tank on a grom =P

"Knowing that Pikes Peak requires motorcycles to be without fairings, and with a flat handlebar, this limits the options for Ducati riders…but only if they are keeping things fairly stock."

I had no idea that the above were requirements for Pikes Peak. Does anyone know the background why?

A few years ago they banned faired bikes and clip ons, claiming safety. From what I understand, it was a concession to the insurance company.

More teaser from Zero with useless marketing fluff. I'm disappointed to see the same motorcycle that is currently in my garage.

Pretty sure with the recent news of the Lightning Strike and Ducati throwing their hat into the game, I'm going to hold off on the SR/F.
