So much to write.. but here it goes:

1997 NSR 250SE with clean California title and plate on original JDM vin

SOLD
Mileage: 44,500KM (roughly 27K miles)
Documentation: Comes with factory service manual, record of everything ever done to it, every issue, and every invoice/receipt for the last 7 years.
Location: near SFO

I've owned this bike since for the last 7 years and know every single inch of it, inside and out. Many here can vouch for the quality of the bike and the work performed on it - no expense was spared. It's one of the best sorted NSRs i've ever seen and comes with maintenance records and every receipt for every part or service since the day i've owned it. Not only have I replaced anything that was broken, I even preventatively replaced anything found that might have even broken in the near future. In the records, i've ever documented every issue ever found with the bike so there's a trailing record of issues and when they were resolved. Fuel tank has no rust and everything is bone stock (including a $70 air filter from Japan), with the exception of SS brake lines due to suspected rusting in the old lines, windscreen, and cans because I couldn't find any OEM.

The motor has never seized, but after noticing difficult cold starts and doing a leak down test, we found a leaky center seal (common issue due to the gasket drying up). Therefore the top and bottom end of the engine was proactively rebuilt at 42,000KM in 2017 with brand new OEM Honda crank, cylinders, seals, rings, etc - everything. Even made sure to use HRC spec Threebond 1207B sealant for the cases. After the rebuild, leak down test showed 8PSI for 10 minutes on each side so confirm perfect pressure and no leakage between the cylinders. There has not been a single issue since then. During this time, I was even able to source an impossible-to-find brand new OEM Honda water pump gear. There's so much more to say, but it'd end up being a novel.

Cosmetically it looks acceptable, but could really use new rear blinkers, mirrors, new upper, and right side tail due to cracks (see photos). It originally came with Tyga fairings, but after years of looking, was able to source a set of OEM fairings. The bike has never been down while I've owned it, but certainly has seen the ground prior to me.

There's no way I can list or remember everything, but happy to spend time with any serious potential buyers to discuss in more depth.

Very cool machine. Must be a lot of fun.

Why are you selling such a cool thing?

Christ almighty!
That’s a pristine and rare machine.

Thanks for the kind words! Selling because it just sits on a tender for the most part, and goes around the city to Starbucks once every couple of weeks to get everything lubricated. Using the funds to contribute to a new sports car next year, or whenever the prices are evenly remotely reasonable again..

10/10 would love to be passed on the inside by one of these.

Man, prices on them things have gone insane. In 1994 I used to import those
bikes. We'd sell them here for $4500.

The colors and design of the graphics on this NSR are my favorite (Rothmans is also up there). CA DMV title makes this bike even more valuable to Golden State residents. With all the care and effort that went into rebuilding this bike to OEM spec it's sure to bring many more smiles and miles to the next owner. GLWS!

Same, back in the late 90's I had three MC21 SP's with MagTek wheels and all the HRC bits, and I don't think I paid more than a grand each to have them tossed in a shipping container in Japan as 'machine parts' and sent my way.

Really... really wish I'd held onto at least one.

You and me both. I had a NSR, a TZR250 and a NC35. Can't think of why I sold them.
