Riders with Motion Sickness?

Things I have done to reduce the motion sickness of my passenger in a car.
Slow down in the twisties
Yes its hard for Whammy to resist the urge to get on it in a car, but cleaning ralf isn't my favorite cleaning chore.
Any and all reading from a phone has ceased.. but how does one get directions or read about where you are going while in the car?
Simple... get a large IPAD and try and keep the reading to times where the car isn't moving. This has helped tremendously.
Sure it keeps you from making good time but cleaning ralf isn't my favorite cleaning chore.

Here is a big one. Took a 8 inch long by 1 inch tall piece of clear bra, and placed it slightly above the passengers eye level on the windshield. The inside of the windshield.
Advised passenger to look out the window above that piece of clear bra, basically keep your eyes at the horizon level.
Its an old racing trick to get students to look past whats in front of them.
Instead of using CB , a piece of tape is placed on the windshield
This has worked miracles, yes its extreme but the nausea has come to a dead crawl.

I guess it could help as well on a motorcycle just use a much smaller piece.
Seems looking down and up while moving for those afflicted is the trigger.
YMMV

My brother, as a passenger, pukes at every twisty road. You can bet your last dollar on it. Yet, as a driver/rider, no problem whatsoever, he'll disappear in front of you. Go figure.

True that... I know the guy :cool

How do blind folk deal with motion sickness if they can’t look thru the turns? (Honest question) I’ve known a couple of dozen blind folk, and don’t remember them getting sick in cars, buses, fair rides, etc.

Maybe because, with no sight, there’s no contradictory input?

Brain adapts most likely, I get seasick but after a few days offshore your brain figures out whats going on and it stops.

Never gotten even a little nauseaus on the bike, way better than a car.

On dive boats, I feed the fish within 10 minutes, as mentioned above, you can bet your last dollar on it. I've tried everything; pills, breathing, meditation, gazing at the horizon, laying on the deck, going below, closing my eyes, driving the boat, not eating breakfast, etc. Nothing works. I puke within 10 minutes. Then I feel like a million bucks. Go figure. Motion sickness is a big mystery to me.

That’s not so bad then.
Some ppl never get any relief.

My wife doesn’t ride, but she’s interested in learning. Unfortunately, she gets motion sickness. She can’t read in the car and twisty roads don’t work, even if she’s the driver.

Do any of you get motion sickness in a car or on a carnival ride, but not when piloting a motorcycle? If so, can you describe how it’s different?

TIA!

I do. The only time I have ever got motion sick on a bike is at Sonoma Raceway.

An AF pilot trainee I knew needed something like 4-5 months of going up and getting air sick before his body finally adapted and he could then get started in UPT. I didn't think that the AF would work with him so long but for whatever reason they did. My understanding was he was a trooper about it and kept a positive attitude. Her earned a much covetted spot at ENJJPT if any of you know what that is. Perhaps thats why he was given so much time. Or maybe just because he refused to quit.
