The Official 2015/2016 NFL Thread

haha...I really didn't expect the league to do anything to them. I stand corrected. Good job by Goodell for putting the integrity of the game first.

Brady and Belichik will still go to the HOF. They won't lose their superbowls. If I were Brady and the Pats, I would think it was well worth the risk of getting caught.

If you're going to cheat, cheat to win. and they have. they aren't the first team to skirt the rules. they're just the most recent to get caught. There's 31 other teams actively looking for a small advantage by bending the rules.

What, they were cheating, they got caught...what's wrong, exactly?

First of all...it's a game...it has absolutely no bearing on the future of our country or the world. Secondly, it did absolutely nothing to change the face of the game. It's not even on the same level as PEDs or sniping the opponent's plays. Inflation of the football is as innocuous as the type of pads a player prefers or cleats even. The biggest impact inflation has is in the kicking game. In this particular game the kicking game was a non-factor and the kickers get a special ball all to themselves anyway.

It's just stupid. And more evidence that sheeple will cry foul at anything the press attaches the moniker of "gate" to these days particularly if they already have a predisposed dislike instigated by jealousy.

Whiny bishes gon' be whiny bishes tho, right?

the only whiny sheeple bishes are the ones crying about the ruling. they got caught. since it has no bearing on anything, then just accept the ruling and move on.

Dude, that team just needs to go get a fresh start somewhere else. They are like the flippin Bucanneers all over again. What is wrong with new franchises in Florida?

You are really into answering your own questions lately.

What happens to the picks that get taken away?

Do they go to someone else? Does the NFL Charity of their choice pick a player?

Seems it's only hurting the draft pool to take away picks.

Not really. I suppose it is possible that the Colts may get something as compensation, but I doubt it. There are a lot of guys that get signed as undrafted Free Agents their first year, so all it really does is bumps a couple 7th round guys who probably wouldn't make the team anyway off the table into the realm of the undrafted Free Agent. There is a lot of really eldritch nonsense that goes on around the NFLPA at that stage of the game, so it probably means a difference in rookie deal money, but it doesn't mean that much to potential pro ball players. They still have plenty of opportunities ot get a shot if they have any talent that can be developed.

I could be wrong, but I think the 1st round next year will only have 31 picks?

probably not a significant impact on the draft class. so there'll be one less player drafted...but that's not counting compensatory picks that are added, which this year had 32 extra picks.

You are correct, sir. The first round will only have 31 picks next year. And the whole draft will have 2 less picks, because Atlanta lost a 5th rounder for #soundgate.

So if it's just a game, why do you care so much about penalties assessed within the framework of the game?

You're missing the whole point dude. It's the tampering of the football AFTER the refs had signed off on the ball. And then the combination of Brady's refusal to cooperate and blatantly lying as well as huge inconsistencies by the Patriots org.

This year, Atlanta got busted for pumping in crowd noise, which I would argue is worse than deflategate. However they admitted to it and fully cooperated. Hence they only lost 5th round pick and 350k.

This is also not the first cheating bust for the Pats under the Darth Hoodie administration, so it makes sense they would crack down more.

To make it super funny though:

Well, to be honest, the Falcons sucked sand last year, so maybe they were trying cover up the boos and exasperations from the fans that were there to keep the players from having hurt feelings.

I think the players union should file a complaint of allowing a hostile work environment by not pumping in cheers and other crowd noises that aren't boos.

That's funny about the sit in:laughing

The thing is they have no proof, they can't prove the pats tampered with the balls. It was proven that the temp change could have accounted for the drop in psi.

it was? I saw it proven otherwise. Bill Nye said so.
