Has anyone done it? What gearing did you do?

Did you just not wring it out on the straights and kept it easy?

Thinking about doing a day with some friends, but I don't have a street bike right now and only my race Sumo.

Had a friend on a 2003 CR250 two stroke do a t-hill day with me last month. He said he had to wring it out pretty good but still had a blast. I don't know what gearing he had, but my guess is you would have more fun on the west course with a sumo than you would on the old (east) course.

Yea, the new course looks awesome, but the track day is on the 3 miler, so long straights. :/

Oh, ha, it is with your group.

I run 15/41 on my DRZsm at TH...works pretty good

Im in the same question boat with my crf450. I'm not really wanting to put new valves in so its still up in the air. Would be fun tho, out brake alot of riders!

What is otherwise your stock gear ratio? I would like to take my WR450 (so I could convert accordingly) ... I assume you had to hack off some links?

I ran a 14 tooth front sprocket (Stock) & 40 tooth rear sprocket. I've been told many times to use a 15 tooth front, but I still run the shit out of my Sumo on T-hill, wide open on the straights and everything!

I've done it a few times, not worth the decreased engine life if you ask me, Sears Pt. on the other hand is 70% fun 30% waiting to get to the next corner. It's way more fun.

I took my SXV to thill a few times and on the front straight, I would would be pinned at max speed before the start/finish. I felt bad for the motor, but it was damn fun.

I had no problems riding in A group.

dont do it unless you take care of your motorcycle..15 or more hours on a top and you put everyones day at risk

I've never done it on my 450, and i don't think i would ever do it. I'd consider riding sears point, but the sears point kart track is fun enough for me on the 450. Way cheaper too!

Yea, the kart track at Sonoma is still a lot of fun (I wish they would put in permanent jumps :( ). But this track day is a combo, bikes and cars and a few friends were headed out and I currently only have my supermoto, so I was wondering if it would be worth it.

Bah... probably not, I'll just wait.

A few years ago I did reno/fernley. Not the whole track, which is 4+miles, but a lower chunk with the serious altitude changes. The track is a minimum 60 ft wide, and we were using a big part of the straight. Guy with a radar gun had me at 109 mph while holding off the throttle. I just couldn't hold it pinned for that long...nothing but time to think about how the motor life was being halved with every lap! The other thing was, going into the turn the end of the straight at 90 with my foot out just seemed wrong.

Big tracks are for big bikes. And another thing, when I watched that vid, I couldn't help but think about how much easier it is on the big tracks. :p

Hah, I kind of agree, it looks really boring on the supermoto - no backing it , just leaning back and worth with a knee down. I definitely would try backing it in, only to realize I scrubbed too much speed.

My 690 had no issues whatsoever on stock gearing. But, you know, its a 690 and unlike anything out there, so.
