Traction control kicked in mid controlled slide

I had my raction control kick in once on my '92 ST1100 when I accellerated hard from a light and made a left turn, still hard on the gas. No drama. I felt the TCS kick on and the little sideways motion of my tire immediately stopped and I continued on. Nothing dramatic.

It may depend upon how the TCS is designed.

I also had it kick on during a wild slide through the mudd on a ride. It saved my ass, for sure.

Some bikes are better than others. I have two different brands with tc. With the hyper it’s an abrupt shutdown when tc is triggered. With the speed triple tc does it’s thing without noticeable interruption.
But I haven’t played with the settings on either other than turn it off on the hyper and still on factory setting with the triumph.

I've been meaning to get to a parking lot and fuss with the settings on the Hyper, I don't want it off, but I'd like to see how the bike behaves with less intervention. Might have to do that once I get the bike back from the shop.

Sports rubber is like a hockey puck in the cold, and the lack of tread features completes the disastrous combination.

Knowing this but channeling my inner kindergartener, I thought I'd fuck around with my summer car (on Pilot Sport 4s) in some fresh snow anyway.. and immediately got stuck and sliding sideways off the crown of the road. Had to get my 4x4 with snatch strap and neighbor to drive it, for the "tow of shame" up the block and into my steep ass driveway, and slingshot toward the garage using momentum (and trying not to run over the strap).

In contrast, mountain-and-snowflake all-seasons FWD or RWD would have been fine in those conditions, and real snows would put down a decent bit of grip. Compound durometer appropriate for the temps is huge.

We don't see Z3N here anymore, but he pushed the limits of traction on modern ABS bikes more than anyone I know. Dude was insanely good with it.
