Consider the maintenance work or fixes that YOU need to do to the bike, and factor that into the price. It is ok to pay more for a bike that has had all of the maintenance work done to it recently, or pay less and get a bike that needs some work, but you must know this in advance and be ok with it.
    • Inspecting the bike: if you are not experienced yourself, have a mechanic or an experienced friend check the bike before making a purchase. Crashed bikes:This is even more important if you are buying a bike that is being sold at a cheaper price with damages that the buyer is required to fix. In these cases, doing a frame check that will show any frame/fork/geometry damages is HIGHLY recommended. Do NOT simply rely on the information that the seller is providing, even he/she may not be aware of all the problems. Have the crashed bike checked and know what you are getting into.
    • Clean title, Salvage title A clean title doesn't mean the bike is free of serious issues. A Salvaged title doesn't mean the bike may have any problems. Every case is different. Some bikes are seriously damaged in a crash, but an insurance claim is never made on them, so they still have a clean title. Some bikes have had mostly cosmetic damages in a crash, but the insurance company decided to pay off the bike and salvage the title rather than spending the money to fix it. Know what you are getting into and don't make any assumptions based on what the seller is telling you.
    • Registration: Know about the current registration status of the bike. Check with DMV if you have any questions about any possible back fees and other title/registration questions (out of state title, no title with bill of sales only, etc.) before purchasing the bike.

Folks, I have decided to upgrade my phone, but I don't want to lose my unlimited data plan. I really like the Note 2 (and I don't have the patience to wait until November or so when the Note 3 comes out). If anyone has a Verizon Note 2 in good condition, I would be willing to spend $300-425 (depending on condition, accessories, etc).

switch to sprint...unlimited everything and if you're a new line you get the new Note for $150. just sayin'
 
I've had Sprint. Unlimited everything only matters if I get a signal that's worth a crap. No thank you. I don't love Verizon, but at least the coverage is good.
 
Have you confirmed that you will keep unlimited data with Verizon?

I heard something about them not grandfathering it when you upgrade a phone, whether you go through Verizon or not to purchase it.

Yeah, I confirmed that I could keep it if I paid full retail from them or bought a phone elsewhere.

At this point I think I will just get the Note 2 at the cheap upgrade price and deal with having 2 GB/month of data

Sorry, I still need an actual cell phone (work requirement). A big part of the reason that I want a Note is because I think that a tablet would be exceedingly handy, but I don't want to carry two devices. That and the note fits in my pants pockets, unlike the tablet.
 
Do you actually need unlimited data? I run into this issue a lot with my customers and I tell them switching your plan will save you money! "I don't want to I have unlimited data and want to keep it!" But you only use 500mb per month, you aren't even using it and are paying extra.

At least with AT&T unlimited users can keep their data and only get throttled after 5gb of usage. At Verizon you have to pay full retail and your data plan can still get throttled after 2gb. Is it worth it? Why not just use the extra money you are spending to get more data if you really need it? And are you really comfortable with having your lte device throttled to dial up speeds? I'd rather pay extra for a working Internet connection than be stuck with that shit.

This is exactly what I have been considering. I will say that Verizon has never throttled me (at least not enough to make a difference) when I've gone to the 4-5 GB range. That said, I NEVER connect to my work or home wifi right now (unlimited data, so why bother). I have come to the conclusion that I will probably be just fine at 2GB, as long as I connect to wifi networks when available. As such, I am just going to grab a new Note 2, instead of a used one.

I would still be open to a used Note 2, as it would leave me open to upgrade when the Note 3 comes out, but the idea of buying a used phone from someone I don't know is a bit sketchy. That's why I posted here, because there are quite a few people I would actually trust here (as opposed to craigslist).

I used to be the same way never connecting to wifi but then I did get throttled once (back when the throttle limit was 3gb) and it took google maps a good 10 minutes to load up the directions I needed. I started connecting to wifi after that
 
I'll sell you mine for $500 <~~~~ serious offer. Not a penny less.

Paid $800 for it brand new just a few months ago. Comes with car charger, Mercury slim fit case and charger. I'd have to find the original box tho =\

I'd use the money to get my wife an iPhone 5 because she hates her current phone (Galaxy Nexus) which isn't even that bad tbh..
