Actor Elliot Page (formerly Ellen Page) comes out as Transgender

I don't care that people don't care about this topic. It's a pointless non-contribution to this topic and it's selfish to make a post solely stating that opinion.

I don't believe you that you don't care about someone not caring. The fact that you'll take the position that saying he doesn't care is selfish is the proof.

It contributes to the topic by letting you know that some people don't care about issues like these. It may rankle you that this is so, but it's data.

I think in this case, the point about agreement revolves around whether one should care or not. There seems to be some disagreement about that.

My personal opinion, not that anyone cares, is that while I'm happy Page (or anyone) was comfortable with her former self and sexual orientation, is comfortable now with himself - I don't care about some millionaire celebrity or what they have to say. I don't know them. On the flip side I could definitely see someone caring if they're in the same position and it encourages them to come out, but that's true of most things.

So should I go to the NFL thread and tell everyone there that I don't give two shits about american football? Is that a meaningful contribution to the discussion there?

Ten bucks I get my hand slapped hard for saying I don't care in multiple threads. But hey, it's data right? I mean, up until now I didn't actually care enough to post on those threads. Because, well, I didn't care. But now that I realize it's important to let everyone know that I don't care, you bet I am going to care enough to share the fact that I don't care.

Not that you care. :twofinger.

So you're saying you do give a shit, just not two?

It might be. It might not take the conversation in the direction everyone else in the thread wanted it to go and you might draw some fire over it. Kind of like what happened here.

There is quite a bit of implicit social commentary in situations like these. It raises the questions of why one would care or under which circumstances they might as in Cali's post above. Consider that we might not have gotten to that nuance if someone hadn't stated they don't care in the first place.

Since you bring that up, you have a history on this site of repeating the same behavior that someone else "got away with" to troll the fact that they got away with it. If you choose to do what you say above you probably wouldn't like the outcome.

Unless you just don't care.

And not to be a dick Bud, but at this point I guess that's what I am; but why did you single me out? Out of this entire thread, you picked my comment to use as an example. I can't help but notice this is not the first, second, or third time you have singled my post out and ignored the original post. In this case, the original post was pretty benign. But it certainly isn't the first time you have called me out specifically for responding to someone's shitpost and completely ignored the shitpost.

It's kind of funny actually. Most times you do it, I walk away for a while telling myself I am not going to post here again. But then I do, and boom, there you are. If you'd prefer I stay away, just say the word.

Because it was the first negative response towards another barfer in the thread.

I ignore a ton of other posts typically because they were not directed at a person specifically. I know I get called out for not being a person that is reactionary to something that may be crappy in nature. Not taking action to remove someone some of the clan feel is a dick.

As a Mod that is not how the TOS gets applied. There are lots of what I consider crappy fodder posted on BARF as I am sure you are aware.

I know not addressing that has caused issues here when people think said person is a troll, or a problem for BARF. I choose to NOT use personal feelings on a member being an asset or negative to BARF, but rather their post content in terms of the TOS. I try to use our "Law" so to speak to guide our actions.

I am sure there have been plenty of BOOMs that did not happen, but the few that do get remembered. That is typical human behavior and not a bad thing...just a thing. Probably similar to your feeling about others too. Glancing over a lot of posts that are not negative and then when a negative one comes up that is all that counts. To try to be fair to all I cannot be like that. As I said some just are not going to like it and that probably leaves a bad taste in their mouth. All I can say is sorry. This site is more than a buddy buddy club where members get to cat call others that are not a buddy to be removed.

We (BARF and you) have a lot of history as you know and all those suspensions were never me on my own. We have taken steps to address how we view the suspensions specically to keep you here (as in letting time remove a tier).

That being said your blip on the radar tends to be a bit bigger than some others.

This was discussed a bit in the Mod core. Nebulous's statement and your response was to be addressed. Not a suspension, but a note. Neither was a TOS violation, but both seemed to be a negative. The quick decision was to address you both which I did. It took a bit, because I try not to just say shit on my own and like to hear others views on something... and when appropriate share mine on items that are brought up as well.

Mr. Link really?? So the outcome was not to your liking so you play "Little Johnny did it so I will too".

Honestly, I don't really care.

Who cares?

Meh, I really don't care.

Really, why should I even care?

Why should I care about this?

Who cares? I don't.

This is not the first time you don't like something and act up.
Pure trolling man.

I just wanted to add that I agree with Dennis that's only trolling when BL does it and it's fine when other people do it.

So is 9 previous suspensions.

Your not helping :twofinger

Your You're still not helping :laughing

I don't have to accept anything. Not Jesus, not your opinion, not the Spice Girls, nothing. That's one of the things about living in America. Do I see Page's statement as positive? Yes. I'm all for bias being reduced. Do I care? Not at all.

HOW DARE YOU?

You accept Ginger Spice, you do it RIGHT NOW.
