No Chris Rock / Will Smith thread? I'm disappointed in you guys

I just don't follow Hollywood but am aware that while it is ok, (and expected), for married actors and Hollywood bigwigs to have sex with multiple other women with a "nod nod wink wink," that their female spouses are held to a different standard, (ie. she's a slut), which seems plain odd and misogynistic.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander I say.

Still somewhat prevalent in society at large? I think the double-standard is less now, but do still think men tend to be seen as "playas," whereas women seen as seen as loose or "sluts."

I wondered if it would show up on BARF. It's just so nothin compared to what is occupying much of the world's mind. I already hate and don't watch the Oscar-cast but I did see the footage.

At first, I thought, "oh, he's just goin' off." Then I thought, well, that wasn't much of a hit so maybe its fake. Then I thought, "
isn't he a Scientologist? He is not "clear" on the concept" but just found out today he was only a dabbler and hadn't gone up any levels so he's not hip to Xenu and the nuke blasts.

Finally then, it's a rich guy acting out in front of the whole world like goddam teenager with the keys to the Maserati but feelng confident there will be few consequences. Must be nice....Sure made most of us squirm. It'll be a while before he gets another movie, but I bet he will. He just might have to pay or hustle it for it himself like Mel Gibson or Clint Eastwood

Doin insult comedy on the familiar circle within Hollywood is risky these days. If Rock knew about the condition, he wouldn't have uttered it. But its sort of like wondering whether a woman is pregnant. Best not to ask no matter what she looks like because you might be wrong or worse. Awkward!

After all this chatter and post-mortems, it's hard to believe their marriage will continue much longer, no matter what the "arrangements" might be.

I really don't think this will affect any projects he already has coming down the pipeline or other new projects unless I missed something and studio representatives have already came out and said they won't work with him.

Women are always hovering near the bottom of social hierarchies and it’s reflected in language and behavior of both men and other women. Smith’s outburst in “defense” of a woman was wrong in every way. That dude is broken inside.

Agreed that his outburst was wrong. Don't agree that we can say he is 'broken inside' over one outburst.

Absolutely fuck all the people that are dragging up his and his wife's sex life, calling him a cuck, calling her a slut, etc. According to him and his wife, from the beginning of their relationship, it's been an open relationship. These people don't seem angry at Smith because he slapped Chris Rock. They seem angry at him because they think open relationships are degenerate and want to 'cancel' Smith for being in one.
 
I think you're off target on that since most of the comedians are more pissed at Will. Their fear is that any choad will come up on stage and slap them should they make the "wrong" joke, like they're supposed to know what's going on in each individual audience members life....

Good question. Should we go with Hlut? It has kind of a prepping a loogie sort of mouth feel that is nice and also a fun play on implied behavior.

There are comedians, and people in general, who are either expressing anger at Smith, or poking fun at him, specifically for the slap. That is fine. I'm talking about the people who are bringing in his and Jada Pinkett Smith's sex lives, and trying to use this as an opportunity to attack them for having an open relationship.

To me it seems like they may be poking fun of Will's inability to accept that while he may be in an open marriage, so is she, and it eats at him. :dunno


Will and Jada never would have survived a Don Rickles show... :laughing
