Jeez, are we still debating this?
Deniers don't believe the status quo, deniers don't believe the virologists, doctors and medical professionals that recommend we get fully vaccinated.

Thanks. Me being the one who was (and continues to be) down with Covid isn't what I was mainly getting at re my question about reading the last three messages.

It was about dravinx's post, where he said re-iterated for the millionth time that no one has stated that the vaccine prevents anyone from getting COVID. Instead, the science and available statistics would seem to indicate that getting the vaccine greatly reduces the risk of hopsitalization and death due to COVID across all age groups.

This isn't a case of media bias or fake news or whackadoo beliefs. It's based on population-level statistical analysis. In other words, a very robust dataset with repeatable methods applied to it that will yield similar results from other investigators. In other other words, it's an evidence based approach following the scientific method.

This is like gravity. Anyone can believe what they want about gravity. But the fact remains that no matter what you believe, what language you speak, what religion you hew to, an apple will still fall through the air at sea level at an acceleration rate of 3.0m/sec/sec (iirc my high school physics class). :party

What science are you talking about? I’ve seen no peer based reviews, of this said “science” other than what we hear from a government agency that everyone is blindly listening to. Never mind the fact that most of these doctors are seated at most of big pharma board rooms.
What about the fact Pfizer has been trying to hide what’s in its formula for 75 years . Talk about not being held responsible… this is acceptable??

I don't even know what the question is anymore or why it can't be asked in a straightforward manner.

I said it from the beginning, and I keep repeating myself. The US (and world), needs to come out with a definition of what success looks like else you get laymen defining it. It's apparent in these "The vaccine doesn't work" conversations.

Why don't people complain about the effectiveness of a TDAP vaccine that you have to get every 10 years? Why not complaints about bi-annual pneumonia?

With that said, the whole design of lockdowns and mask wearing (and thus I assume vaccination) is to minimize the effect on the healthcare system. You can do that many ways and we have comprehensive strategies across multiple viruses in place to do so.

I've said it so many times, I'm blue in the face. Covid vaccines reduce the likelihood of having significant adverse medical outcomes. I've even gone so far to indicate that we have progressed into the realm of "pandemic of the unvaccinated".

The ask to provide supporting studies that you are just going to attempt to refute with claims of commercial impropriety ("sits on the board" etc) makes the effort not worth it.

I'm not here to convince you. This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated at this point.

I didn't mention anything about peer-reviewed studies - you inserted that into your response. Good science doesn't need to published in a refereed journal, btw. Especially since the open science movement has gained traction and credibility. As for Pfizer and baby formula, I mean, ok. Umm I'm not sure if anyone's working on a baby formula solution to COVID, so I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. Volkswagen and Audi, among most of the other German car manufacturers got busted for building and installing software/chips in their cars that was designed to mislead EPA testers on tailpipe emissions and fuel efficiency. So, you know, you can't trust anything they say either?

Hydroxy whatever...I dunno...haven't tried it. Not interested in trying it. Or taking the Tide Pod Challenge. But that's me. Whatever keeps your powder dry.

As for the physics stuff, does your wife have a different opinion about gravity?

First of all, I never said smallpox. Secondly, what the hell does that matter? They're still viruses that have vaccines which are administered in repeated doses all the time. That was the point.

I have long since given up trying to debate with deniers, they're going to believe the talking head(s) that they trust and that is the end of the story.

Everybody has made their bed by now on this subject, now they will have to sleep in it, for better or for worse.

$20 to BARF if you can tell me who authored the study (and prove it)

That should concern you if getting poked only means it reduces the chance you might end up in the hospital, then that isn't really a vaccine? Is Whammy also anti-flu vaxx? I do know many who don't get the annual flu vaccine. Whatever floats their boat. Just pointing out that covid wouldn't be the first time we've had limited immunity vaccines that needed regular intervals to probably lessen the chances of contracting, and lesson the symptoms if one does contract.
 
Except their arguments for why they're "ineffective" are based on anti-science/pseudo-science/faux news talking points. I don't see how you can be anti-covid vaccine but not entirely anti-vaccines. That makes absolutely no sense.
