My old prostate has bhp and is messing with my all day rides. :( Any old farts have one of the following procedures? TURP or Aquablation. I am leaning toward Aquablation at Stanford.

I have no input on the actual topic other than to say "Old Prostate" would be a great name for a band.

sounds painful

maybe just for preemptive action for others:

I hope that everything goes smoothly form you. If you need anything, I'm right near Stanford, do not hesitate to contact me.

I was really turned on, until she got to the part about "the INTERNAL massage".

Wish you the best Bill.

I am in club "Whatever it takes to ride".

I am not watching the video... :laughing

Women have their plumbing issues, men have prostate issues. I always choose to keep it private other than to say its an incredibly complex issue made more confusing by opportunists hawking procedures and potions and perhaps over-treating men with a slow-moving cancer that won’t likely kill them before old age does. I am stumped and am at the age where Kaiser is trying to get me in there to play Russian roulette with their dangerous biopsy.

Prostate MRI - not all Kaiser locations do it, just ask your urologist if it can be done before deciding on a biopsy

Kaiser likes to avoid MRIs because it's expensive, but if you push your doc for it, they'll make it happen, or you find a new doc at Kaiser that does. Speaking of which, I need to find a new doc.

Thanks to both of you. I had no idea. This dude keeps pushing for the regular one. I am writing him today.

This may make some squeamish, but the Kaiser procedure is the usual: they go in the dirty side, punch through to the clean side. They give you ONE Cipro pill. One. I mean, its a powerful antibiotic with its own controversies but it seems like some shoulder period makes more sense.

There is a 2014 Consumer Reports page that talks about over-treating this condition that always comes up first when I do searches on this topic and it scares the shit out of me..

Yeah, I have some experience. First thing I did was take my moto seats and cut out foam in the prostate area to get a "donut pillow" shape.

Saw Palmetto has been my medication for decades.

BHP sucks. Get your urologist to test for bacterial inflammation. No fun, the test.

Re Cipro: If you take it, it should be a full course, one pill is a joke. That from Kaiser Urologist.

I've had two bacterial prostate infections. They suck. Big Time. Cipro sucks big time. I know someone who got serious long term illness from it. People tear their achilles tendons when taking it. Mine hurt so badly I wanted to quit taking it, my Doc said to try and get through. It worked both times, and I hope I never have to take Cipro again.

Drink plenty of water. I haven't had any prostate problems since I started riding bicycles regularly. You'd think the opposite.

Ask about the UROLIFT procedure. It's done in the doctor's office under light sedation. No risk of ED.

You may be limited by what Kaiser offers, but it's the way I would go.

Thank Lefty, I should be good. Still need to get scheduled.

I got lucky and the company I retired from has Retirement Health Care that pays my plan "F" supplement. Any Dr that takes Medicare the supplement covers the rest, no cost to me.

Urolift has a limit on the size of the prostrate, mine is too big. Thanks for all the comments. Now I need to get the procedure scheduled.

Old Prostate and the Dribbles.

I'll betcha that bike seat is doing it's magic as an external prostate massager.

Best of luck in combating this problem Bill!

Myself, being the age of higher likelihood of enlarged prostrate (69), I've also researched the issue.
I prefer non-surgical procedures if at all possible.
(I do use Saw Palmetto daily)

I've followed the advice of Dr. Berry in regards to how to shrink an enlarged prostate (or try to keep it from enlarging in the first place).

Check out this video...

It basically covers the following...

#1 (3:28) Avoid sugar
#2 (4:19) Avoid grains
#3 (4:50) Avoid soy
#4 (5:15) Avoid low-fat dairy
#5 (5:50) Avoid veg-seed oil
#6 (6:15) Do Keto/Carnivore
#7 (6:38) Do Intermittent Fasting

Maybe, maybe not. Bicycle seats are specifically designed for whatever kind of plumbing you have. If you get the wrong one, you can make the problem considerably worse.

*looks around*

I guess no one's gonna say it, so I will: that's the fun part.

Old Prostate, , ,

Sounds like a cheap burbon

I wouldn't call it cheap.
