I got a set of Buza forks in great shape but now i need to fabricate upper and lower LOWERED triple trees or pay 800euros to some swiss machine shop

early USD GSXR forks are longer than just about anything out there, they're also hard to find these days.

searching the greater internet may also give results for what others have done.

cognito moto might have some options for triple clamps

allballs racing will tell you what swap bearings are available, but that doesn't take into account any other challenges like fork length, brakes, speedometer drive etc

Wow Thanks,,

As far as i know the gen 1 hayabuzas are the same lenght as the GSXr's but still 2inches to short, so they sell this crazy 6bolt clamps that are almost 3" tall..

i love Italian food, but I have spagettis on my motorcycles and the 38mm forks feel like you turn and then the wheel finally comes over..

no idea of the allballs, that is going to help me a lot..

thanks again..

Hey mister "Chrome those not get you Home"

Thank you for the suggestion, i found my require bearings in a few minutes..

awesome find i had no idea they exist

Good to hear

There are a few fork swap lists floating around out there on various forums. I think customfighters(.net? .com?) Had one. Some have overall fork length

For the longest USD forks (without using dirtbike forks) I'd suggest looking at some street oriented adventure bikes... V-Strom, Multistrada, etc.

You mentioned the possibility of needed to get custom triple clamps made. I've done lots of fork swaps and rarely are new clamps required. Often, its as simple as selecting the proper bearings to fit both the stem shaft and the frame. Some times a space spacer is needed if the stem is on the long side. Worst case scenario I've had to have a new stem shaft made. (I have shops that can do this for under $200). The only time I've made completely new triple clamps is if there are major changes such as adding handlebar mounts and/or adding special mounts for instruments, and even then the cost has been much lower than what you're suggesting to have made by some "Swiss machine shop".

Someone mentioned having Cognito Moto make some custom triple clamps. I happen to have a set of Cognito triples and I can say that Devin does very high quality work, however he is not cheap!

Anyway, I'd probably look for some V-Strom forks and go from there. Of course V-Stroms have 19" front wheels, so I'm not sure if you still are planning to use the Vmax front wheel? That gets into another discussion. Perhaps you may want to start a project thread (here: https://bayarearidersforum.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=190) with many more details and have more in depth conversation.:party

Wow you are so helpful, thank you..

i have been a barf member since the start, my log in got mess up so i got to start from zero, but this place has change a lot..

i take a look around the net, just that link from yesterday help me find some many things

the consensus is the YSf1300, sorry for the nomenclature, the fast touring bike yamaha sells has the longest forks, but all i can find are bend and they still want 100 dollars for them..

not a good start anyway since the vmax is so heavy and hard to willie..

gracias de nuevo..

ricky

Adventure bikes I know, i'm meMber 17 on advrider, 10 minutes after the forum start, Gs rider since for ever for i have a few 950's too..

yes sure they are much longer but also so much more expensive, I'm studyng with my friend and fabricator JP Morgen if i can convert one of my corss spoke gs wheels to use on the Vmax, shame my friend that die was the wheel master at Woddy wheel works, he had hundreds of spare wheel of all kinds..

19" oh man you read my mind, I even build a Rear 18" (what a pain) they came on the r1150RT-P so sacramento bmw had piles of them since the chp decide for the cast wheels, then cut it and spliced , jp used to work at Kosmans so second nature for him, then clearance on the swingarm, but so many more great tire choices for pure Dirt..

thanks for the suggestions, trust me i look and ask for $700 is far more than $250 plus the whole lowering (that is not that difficult)

I swapped a 92 GSXR1100 front end onto my 86 VFR 750. Used that particular one because they are longer than the others and the bars mount above the triple clamp.

Mad

Actually i still have a WP 50mm Right side Up MAGNUM fork from my 2001 ktm 640 and some of the early 660 ADV came with room for two calipers (the ones with the Back tanks) but those are impossible to find..

those Magnum's are so Stout and work incredible well but making a cnc brake mount is kind of risky for the Vmax weight...

you are right, great Stuff, but his prices are from Phat shirt breaded fellows, nobody is going to pay that much for those light holders, i'm a designer too and i used to fabricate stuff but everything got copied using extrusions and I don't have a chance in hell to compete with the prices using honest multi operation CNc work

I got steer into checking cruiser forks, they are for sure long andvusual cheap butbthey have zero tunability besides changing oil and springs..

I just can not stomach the sport bike forks with three inch leg spacers and can not afford the ktm 950's or any of the adventure bikes even the vstrom's that are pretty crapy in my opinion..

it appears a kawasaki Versys is an option if you're after the chopper look

ya missed this one unfortunately
Fswhy5I.jpg

Chopper, hell no, i want a bike i can push [used to bmw GS's with super stiff front end

Actually i purchase a hayabuza fork but is far to shory, and they are ways to make them fit but i dont trust them

Also a USD suzuki marauder that is the same lenght as vmax fork but the axle is like 13mm andvinhave stiffer springs on my mountain bike forks, plus the brake mounts where the really old standard and the tokico 6pistons will not fit with out adapter plates

So i end up with a whole yamaha R1 gen i, so calipers and wheel will work, now i need to pull the vmax stem and install it on the r1 lower triple tree..

Stupid me i did not do my homework but hopefully i can sell the other parts are recuperate some money..
