TOKYO KARTS: US TOUR (San Jose) Sat, Mar 21, 2026 11:00 AM - 19:00 PM

We have a place called, I think, K1 Speed down here. It's an indoor kart track (2 tracks) running electric carts.

This looks pretty similar to me.

If it's on the actual streets (not an indoor track) like K1 that would be pretty cool.

K1 is a blast, we have a semi local one here in Clovis (I'm in Turlock).

It appears kinda cartoonish. I found this

Oh I see this is the thing where everyone dresses up as Mario Kart characters and gets pictures / video of themselves driving on the street as such.

It would probably throw them for a loop if a bunch of us showed up with no intention other than full tilt racing those things :laughing

Hard to imagine spending an hour in one of those carts, frankly. But you're probably not racing them as hard (with the sharp turns) as you do at K1.

I can usually do two races at K1 before my ribs start hurting and I'm in a full body sweat, each race is usually 10 minutes LOL.

The course looks to be really boring. A huge oval and no tight turns. I could likely run it flat out. It’s made for people with zero experience.

where is you find a course map?
We once did a BARF LeMans Karting event. I passed budman under the yellow and bumped hime from the next round. I will feel guilt for that for the rest of my days. Pics could be here somewhere.

That looks properly stupid.

Still kind of cool to see it happening.

If you want a proper karting experience, go to a real kart track at an event run by a karting school. I went to the track up near Sacramento and the school was run by a world champion in kart racing. The karts are gas powered, will be fast and they are properly set up.

I went with a group of friends, many of whom raced with the AFM. (Essentially we rented the track.) They even let us have a real race. We all went off in formation and when we came around to the start/finish, we got the green flag and we were off racing at full tilt. I was in the front row and got to experience going into the first turn with an angry pack of racers on my ass. The entire day was an amazing experience. One guy brought his own kart and forgetting to tighten a nut, went off track and flipped himself and his kart over a 6’ chain link fence. He and his kart were banged up but OK. At the end of the day he put on his rollerblades and a weed wacker motor with a propeller on attached to a backpack frame for a couple laps around the track. Great times!

Which track was that?

I'm looking to do something very much like what you described. I haven't researched a whole lot just yet, but I know Sonoma offers karting and the reviews from there are pretty good.

A friend is touristing in Tokyo right now with his family. They just did the kart thing yesterday.
