Have you ever wanted to brag about having the highest mileage bike at the meet?
Well get ready to hold the crown, king. This 1999 Honda VFR800 has 135,166k miles! That's right, over 100k and well on the way to 150k. That's peak Honda reliability for you. It'll go up as I ride.
This legendary sport-tourer has been well maintained and is ready for any adventure you can handle. I wouldn't hesitate to ride across the country on it right now. The 1999 Honda VFR800 is the definition of a bulletproof machine with Honda’s legendary V4 engine, well known for its balance of power, comfort, and reliability. And the sound, my god the sound! V4, the best exhaust (Staintune), AND gear-driven cams!
Bike was dropped 2 owners ago at about 100k miles: after the drop, a new motor was installed (had 20k miles), fairings were professionally painted, and frame was checked to be straight.
Asking$3500 $1500, open to trades for an Africa Twin or similar
When Honda made the 5th gen VFR800, they pulled out all of the stops:
- V4 engine
- Single-sided swingarm
- Hydraulic clutch
- Linked brakes
- Center stand
- Gear-driven cams!
The Good:
- Maintained for past 4 years by a professional mechanic (me)
- Previous 2 owners were also professional mechanics
- Tires have 90% life
- New battery
- New clutch
- Fresh oil
- Sargent Seat
- Rear shock from a Superhawk
- Forks off Superhawk (converted to having adjustable compression)
- Cannon style air filter (British style)
- 12V auxiliary power socket
- R/R replaced
- VFRness (heavy duty R/R harness)
- TFI Fuel Controller
- Staintune exhaust (best exhaust for the bike and sounds amazing:
)
- Needs nothing, get on and ride, enjoying the growl of the engine and the scream of the gear-driven cams
The Bad:
- Exhaust has ding on header, some is a bit rusty
- Coolant hoses haven't been changed in ages
- Upper and lower front fairings have multiple scuffs and cracks. Not noticeable from 5 ft away.
- I didn't have enough time to get it to 200k miles, but you can!
Recent services:
- Oil change at 134k
- New clutch at 134k
- New rear tire at 134k
- New battery at 134k
- New front tire at 133k
- Chain and sprockets at 126k
- Valves at 120k
Comes with:
- Givi rack and mount (not the top box)
- Spare forks
- Spare front brake calipers
- Spare rear brake master cylinder (if I can find it)
Selling to fund my dance company
