Wow, Stand up Electric Quad Runners

We're gonna have a good time on them...the ones you rode were in the 30+ HP range....roughly. The new ones are 165hp. Stand ups. Insane fun. You'll need to sign a waiver!

Took my standup 2smoker snow runner out today for the first time this season.

DEEP

No pictures of me riding it through the bottomless pow while it was completely submarined over the windshield because you DO NOT want to stop in that situation ...

but I do have a picture after I got back on the trail, shortly after I hit a stump on the side of the trail and it sent me and the sled cartwheeling.

Pic is after I flipped it back over and walked back to unearth the culprit.

That stump was right on the edge of the track. If I would have stayed in the track I would have been fine, but I decided to ride up and down the banked sides of the track like a slalom half-pipe course for fun.
Idiot.

Luckily I'm ok, Borked the steering on the sled.

This is the second time this happened, last sled I destroyed the under structure this way.

I'm over it

Put the heater on it for a few to quickly melt the snow to assess the damage...

Bent lower left control arm and sheared sway bar links
skidoo learned their lesson from the sleds a generation before this (my last one!) where an impact of this type would tear out all the aluminum of the under structure because the control arms were so strong.

Now they make the control arms the crumple zone for front end impacts, much easier to replace.

Sounds like fun!
I was commenting to my wife that if I had owned one of today's Porsches, I'd have a whole stack of tickets, it'd be painful to stay anywhere near the speed limit.

@Holeshot Outlander 700 xp max

Yeah, very specific, Max is the two-seater longer wheelbase rig, the XP adds some nice add-ons for work.

:thumbup
what add-ons can you get for that? a local lumberjack who’s done some felling for us recommended one for our property. i forgot what he told me (said they carried them at that place right off 80 down the hill). said it had PTO, and we need one with that. we need to be able to run a mower (heavy veg), a tiller, and brush hog. i need to circle back and ask him again.

also - sorry to hear about the log incident. have a big project going on to clear all that shit out - mostly for spring veg management. we don’t run anything in the snow.

Think you're gonna have to go aftermarket for PTO on a quad/ side by side.

looks like we might be switching gears. went to look at a bunch of equipment, and a small 4x4 tractor is looking like the best fit. the quick disconnects for both the front and rear mounted equipment are super slick. one of those situations where we hadn’t planned on all of the optional equipment, but immediately recognized how useful it would all be.

edit: i had to lol. when the dude saw our terrain, he said they’d need to mod it. add wheel spacers for a ‘wider stance’. and apparently fill the tires with water instead of air. love me some modified machinery. always have. :laughing

I feel like I am way more likely to jackknife my ass off of one of those than on a sit down.

Lots of ways to smash yourself on standups, but sit downs just BEG you to do the dumbest shit on them....

we finally got space cleared out for a quad - not that kind. need one that’s 4WD with PTO (workhorse on our steeply sloped property). not looking forward to writing that check. but am looking forward to being able to get shit done a whole lot easier.
Orange, Red, Green or Blue? I have personally have an orange one and its lasted for 19 years even being treated like shit. Only like 27ish HP but with front loader and I love it wish I would have gotten one with AC.

If you put a front loader on it they always ad water for the weight so it doesn't tip to the front.

red (the faster color lol). although, before we pull the trigger, we’ll probably look at a couple of other brands.

yeah, the dude said we needed to lower the CG due to the steep terrain (also wider wheel base, which is the mod they would need to do). and we hadn’t planned on getting a front loader, but decided it would come in handy. all in, we’re getting 4 optional attachments; front loader, mower, tiller and brush hog.

The front loader is indispensable not only does it move dirt but you can unload stuff into it and carry it to where you want it I have in a pinch used it as a water mover, fill the bucket dump where needed. Depending on how big your PTO output is you can even get PTO driven generators.

Up on the mountain we had a couple of JD Gators ( 5 & 6 wheels) with dump beds. My father in law built extended beds to make them more useful and made front boxes that always had fencing and irrigation supplies on board as well as rack for the chain saws and gas. Super handy....
But I always jonesed for a small 4x4 tractor...

That was going to be my suggestion

I love me a small four-wheel drive Kubota with the auto range transmission

Tractors ARE tippy and dangerous on side hills though
