And just like that, our youngest kid is an adult 😭. It's been a heck of a fun time. She was 7 when her mom and I met. And now she's a gorgeous, talented, amazing young woman. We've really connected this last year. Love going to the mall together, playing with the cats, going out for ramen, and we've been to the circus twice this year :laughing. Maybe that's our thing now lol. I'm grateful she's let me be part of her life. I'm a proud stepdad!

awesome post. my mom met and married my dad when i was 7. he adopted me and my sister - and was way more of a dad to me than my father ever was. in every way. he made us a family. surrounded by love. sounds like she’s as lucky to have you come into her life as i was to have him. just wanted to say - from a daughter to a dad - how much a man like you means. words can’t begin to express it.

The term “enshittification” was coined in 2022 by novelist Cory Doctorow to describe the declining quality of almost everything. Monopolistic corporations are charging more for the products they sell and cutting back on services. Stuff breaks more often than it used to.

The “free” electric scooter 🛴 that I got from a friend, still doesn’t work. The battery or charging_board is broke somehow.

NOw that it’s opened, and since I verified nothing is happening when charging, I’m about to try to rig the charger to the 15 lipo cells directly… the theory is, (as long as they are still making contact ) that they are disbalanced. :(

I wish I had a LiPo charger or a DC variable generator at this point.

Woke up at 5, eventually fell asleep around 8, woke up again at 10. Now I've had breakfast and I guess I'll figure out what we're doing today.

Their daughter is one of my spirit animals.

Plus she is a band nerd so we have that in common.

Everytime we had game night at their home, she'd always want to bug her mom about what happened at marching band practice and Danielle just says, "talk to Joseph. He understands this stuff. I don't." :laughing

The local theater showed the current year's DCI performances (Drum Corps International) and we would talk about going to see it but I always told her I'm not sitting with you and your friends. You're teenage girls, that's weird and looks creepy. I'll be 4-5 rows back but we can talk after.

I really fuckin needed this past Saturday. Things have been pretty mundane and uneventful this year.

During finals week of any semester, the campus library was open 24 hours. A lot of us brought sleeping bags to the library and the cafeteria served food 24 hours including breakfast food at dinner times because everyone's day clock and sleep pattern (assuming we slept) was all fucked up.

but the "official" charger (now rigged) DOES show "red = charging" . (before it was showing Green, which may mean "okay full"., but it actually meant "I'm turned off, there's nothing to do, I think it's all charged"

Cancer fucking sucks for anybody at any age. But I remember before she was diagnosed and her disposition and outlook on the entirety of life never changed. I've never seen her upset outside of not being able to open a can of peanut butter.

Even through chemotherapy and any associated treatments that caused her hair loss, she was/isn't ashamed of being a bald-headed teenage girl. No interest in wigs.

Yeah, the level of anger I get when I can't open a can of peanut butter is legendary. Full blown temper tantrum ending with me smearing shit all over the walls.

But why shit? You may ask.

Because I couldn't get the fucking peanut butter open.
