So I'm in kind of a frustrating position. I've been taking care of my brother's dog for the past couple weeks because he is in jail. No need to get into the how or why again. I've mentioned he dog before but she just knocked over a jar of relish while I was making tuna salad.
I'm doing what I can to care for the dog BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE WILL. He doesn't have any friends. He's pissed them all off or wronged them in some way, he has no one to turn to me included, and I really don't give a fuck. This is a big difference between us. I have friends I could call right now and tell them I need help burying a dead body but you can't ask questions and they would do it.
I make sure there's food and water in the bowls. Let her out to run around and stuff. But that's pretty much it. I'm not playing with her. I'm not taking her to the dog park. Anytime I do anything, she follows me around and always try to lick me. Maybe I'm being snobbish but I don't want a dog licking my legs while I'm making a sandwich when I just saw her licking her own ass.
I am not an anti-dog person. I don't particularly like dogs. I don't dislike them. I like my friends' dogs but in small doses when I visit them or they visit me. I've even dogsat for a couple friends before for a couple days and it was all good.
I don't want anything to do with this dog other than making sure she has food water and space to run around. Does this make me a bad person? Part of it is I don't want to have To people that call their dogs 'furbabies', probably... but outside of that... ??? I've never tried to pretend to be a dog lover. It's just not part of my personality but it's my current responsibility to at least make sure this dog is taken care of. The dog deserves better but I am not that better.
