your first machine, with two wheels and a motor. what was it? pics required, if not your pics, well, google images will help...

in college i bought an orange motobecane mobylette moped. 50cc's of slow-moving goodness. i had it for about 2 years before it got stolen, but i loved it. motobecane had made it in 1979? the guy i purchased it from lived in LA and had owned a bike repair shop in a previous life. he kept a few of his pristine mopeds around, and eventually decided to sell this one. i drove up with my isuzu rodeo and put it in the back. the whole truck smelled like gasoline for about a month. :laughing

i used to wear a skate helmet when i rode it, but that didn't last long. i got pulled over by a cop who was nice enough to just give me a warning. after that, i bought a helmet at a thrift store for about 10 bucks. it was a 3/4 old goldwing helmet, XXL. it was black, with two big gold honda wings painted on either side. :laughing

don't have actual pics, but wil post replicants.

I had this bike for about 3 months sometime around 5th grade.

Then, my dad gave this bike to my brother, and I used to sneak it out in Jr High. I had to kick start it on it's kickstand since I couldn't touch the ground. Used to rail up and down the train tracks until I dumped it and spent an hour crying and trying to lift it back up and push it to a fence to lean against and restart it. :laughing

Example of first bike I ever rode: 1979 Suzuki RM80 (I was 7 or 8 years old)

I crashed it, of course, within 30 feet of "takeoff"

Example of first bike I ever owned: 1986 Kawasaki Ninja 250 R (I was 15)

My Ninja had the "upgrade" of a lower fairing and painted black rear seat :laughing

Example of first bike that ever sent "serious" chills down my spine: 1985 Yamaha RZ350

This bike rules! Mine had the Teleflex full-fairing and LOTS of engine work for 70hp at the rear wheel!

classicmoto, I was looking for pictures of the suzuki 80 as well... except mine was the Dual Sport one (DS80) :teeth

(not the actual bike, but one just like this, with round headlight)

I remember drooling when I saw one of them parked by the shop at the corner of the street we used to live on. I would stand by it and spend minutes just admiring it... until one day my parents gave up and gave me enough money to buy one like it, in exchange of my working in our office for that summer.

Picked up my first back in early '05, '97 M750. I just wish I had taken the same route as ya'll, and started riding much earlier in life.

my parents were good at finding interesting bikes, as this was my second.. oil injected 2-stroke. thing fit great in my moms minivan for late-night joyrides in empty parkings lots. tranny couldnt take the stress of me n my 18yr-old buddies though.

I was stuck on ghetto Briggs and Stratton minibikes for a few years, then had a jacked up XR75 for bit. My first nice serious bike was one of these though. Man, it was such a little beauty, I loved that thing!!

1989 FZR 600. Same as the pic below but the fairing was painted lime green with yellow wheels and yellow stickers:( . Salvage title, looks like shit but runs like a champ :applause. I bought it in 1995 for 1800, used it fora year and sold it. No CL or digicam back in the day, so I ended up putting it up on Cycle Trader, they took a picture of the bike with Polaroid.:teeth

was in ohio, found myself learning on the side streets with a backwards baseball hat, sunglasses and a t-shirt :D

Started my love of 2 wheels with this Puch. If also got me hooked on working on bikes & teaching my the basics about how a motor works.

Awesome bike :rolleyes . Rode it for about 3 years before i sold it and moved.

I had a 1972 Honda Mini-Trail 50, got it in '81 when I was 13. Paid $32 for it, saved up by mowing grass in my neighborhood. Paid the dude with a piggy bank full of one-dollar bills, and a bunch of spare change. :laughing

(sorta like this, just slightly different graphics)
