Another water crossing. I stalled my bike at the deepest part and ended up thigh deep in the water and filling my boots. And then I stalled it again going back across...

I found a little sandy beach to hang out on a little while while I dried my gear out. The water was chilly and the rocks were warm.

This is where being alone without flat repair tools stopped me. I could have gotten down that, but maybe not back up if I needed to bail out. I decided to go back up the previous rock garden on my street tires and hit the trail from the other side.

Would you rather ride up or down that? I went down.

Here is the basic ride map, but I didn't adhere to that. Some I skipped and I added lots more. Find Murphys, Markleeville, and the Nevada line. I rode as much as I could in between in the time I had. I probably went over Ebbetts Pass about 6 or 8 times. Some of the trails I found had not been traveled in a long time. Some were not trails. If it was paved and looked interesting on th map I probably rode it.


96K ft. total elevation gain.

Unfortunately, I ran out of memory in my camera. It just kept getting better and better. Some of the best stuff, I didn't get pics of.

It's really called mosquito lake and it wasn't difficult to figure out why. They were swarming at my camp site not far away. It's right at the top of pacific grade summit.

It would be nice to do NCIV while the flowers are still blooming. But to see them would require, God forbid, actually riding on some dirt! I think NCIV is going to be a bunch of pavement pounding. But let the peeps speak for themselves here.

I'd want to get in at least two solid days of riding, not including the ride up and back. I can do it any day, weekend or weekday.
