Just a heads-up if you are going to Moto GP this weekend:

We just got back and there are CHPs everywhere. There's a big sting that's set up on Highway 1, south, in the Castroville/Marina area. There were 7-8 moto-CHPs just waiting on the onramp.

So be careful out there!

Saw them as well. They looked like vultures sitting over there, with one up on the overpass with the radar gun

When we went by, one of the motorcops had four motorcycles and a pickup truck pulled over -- all to himself!

Every year it's the same LEO enforcement traps setup in virtually the same locations.

Not really surprising, unless you're a MotoGP newbie.

There are similar parallels in nature. Like hungry sea lions and bears waiting in and along the river for the annual salmon run.

Been going to Luguna Seca off and on since 1976 and we usually go in via the north entrances, so the enforcement trap on Hwy 1 was new to me.

But yes, you are correct: Traps aplenty every year .... and at every venue!

you guys swear that this is surprise. it's like this every years :rofl

but ya, 12st exit in marina, they usually have one motocop on the overpass w/ a gun, and 7-8 lined up on the onramp to chase ya down.

so if you'er speeding, make sure you KEEP speeding :)

I wasn't surprised at the enforcement of course, but I was somewhat surprised at the AMOUNT of the many patrol vehicles out there yesterday.

I was just trying to be nice by alerting my fellow riders.... just in case it was their first time out there. :cool

+1 w3rd :)

yeah thats a normal occurrence, just make sure your either going slower than the speed limit or faster than them

Yup they were out in force today. Radar officer was posted on 12th St. Exit overpass with several on the onramp. Thanks for the head taps ya'll. :cool

I should asked them to sign off my fix it tickets. & Yes nice to have a heads up I always go hwy 101 except this year I went hwy 1 . seen the bikes on the flatbed tow truck. Just think In the same week i was passed by H.P no headlights over 120 mph catching a speeder. Safty First.lol.

Does anyone else remember when Laguna was still part of Fort Ord and the MPs would snag you for going even 1 mph over 35 on any of the access roads?

And yeah, the CHP have been feeding in pretty much the same highway spots for all public events for as long as I have been going to Laguna.

I went to college there (CSUMB)....since there's still an army reserve presence, there is a form of MP, and they aren't very nice (especially if you look under 25)....I have a plethora of stories I could share.
