I just recieved my Pit Bull Stand in the mail yesterday!!!! :thumbup

I purchased it for my '05 ZRX1200. I love my ZRX, but this bike is a PIG,,,, or is that a Kow?, but I still love it and my new stand.

Here is my problem; this thing has been impossible for me to lift with my pretty new stand. I am 205 lbs and stronger than your avg. teenage girl.

I was working on other projects yesterday, so I ran outta steam and I gave up on trying lift the bike.

Today, my plan is to make an adjustment to the 'spool grabber thingy'. Now, it's sticking out a couple of inches, but I will push both of them all the way in, and see if that makes the bike easier to lift.

Any tips?

I've lifted my dad's ZRX. It's hard and I'm always scared I'm gonna drop it, but just keep pushing! It'll come up eventually!

I weigh less than you and can lift my SV650, which weighs about 30 pounds less than your ZRX1200, onto my rear Pit Bull stand all by my loneself self. Plus I'm a :boobies.

Here's how I do it, Ed.

With the bike on the kick stand, EDIT: in gear /EDIT, place the Pit Bull stand so the whatchamacallits are below the swing arm pegs. They will not fit just yet. Hook one up (I usually go with the left side first); most likely it will not stay hooked up. Then push and hold steady the bike from the rear so that it's upright and no longer on the kick stand. Quickly align the right side of the Pit Bull support with the right swing arm peg, ensure that both pegs fit into their respective supports, and then push down (I use my foot) on the stand.

Voilà! Ze bike iz on ze Peet Bool stand.

If you drop your bike, don't blame me! :)

Oh, yeah. Can't you move the spools inward?

Perhaps you could come over and give this 'poor helpless wittle man' some assistance....
hhhmmmmmm?

Thanks all for the help!!!

Push down with one hand and pull with the other..

I haven't bought one yet because my bottle jack method works perfect underneath the right side foot peg.. Or you can do like Connie does and just tip it over on your hip and let it rest there while you work on it.. that was amazing to watch..

Ironbutt-

Can you please explain?

really, I'm having a hard time visualizing your 'bottle jack' method and Connies' Hip method.

Thanks

ZRX1200: 512lbs. wet weight
SV650S: 429lbs. wet weight

Erm, unless I'm missing a vital detail or two, I think that the difference is more than 30 pounds. :p

Get a bottle jack.. put the bike in gear.. walk around to the right side of the bike.. squat down next to the right foot peg.. screw the jack up as far as it'll go up underneath the foor peg making sure it's secure... then pump it until the rear tire is just off the ground.

You can also put a 2x4 under the kick stand and do the same thing for more lift. Reposition the jack for the front tire..

I don't like the pit bull stands or any stand that's not an actual lift... they put the bike too high in the air. All I want to do is pull the tire off or wax the chain..

The Connie method.. facing the front of the bike grab both handlebars.. put your ass into the bike and heave ho.. now.. I can't do this.. but I saw her do it at my place and I was amazed at how easily it popped up. and then she worked on her bike.. just like that. I think that's called " the man handling" method.. and if you had any doubts about her strength.. well.. there it is.. heheh..

Amazing what you learn by hanging out with salty old bikers like her.. I learned the 2x4 bottle jack method from this old bike mechanic I used to hang out with in Florida.

you could also get like a pipe or something to use to extend the handle for more leverage.

Looking at the pic of the stand, it seems to be the kind that pushes the bike forward as it lifts (or the little wheels roll toward the rear of the bike). What might help you then, is if, once you've got the stand under the swingarm spools, you could put your foot in front of one of the stand wheels and allow the bike to roll forward as you push on the stand handle forward and down.

Hey Lefty, me and you must be in the same dimension or something... cause I just came up from the garage trying the same thing just right now! :wtf I have the same Pit Bull (FWD Handle Rear Stand) as you do and also have a WATER BUFFALO for a bike! :) A '03 Kawasaki ZX-7R... about 500+lbs... so I know what your talking about... don't mind the other peeps with their little bikes! :rofl Believe me, from experimenting, my brother's GSXR 750 is parked right next to my bike and there is a noticeable difference when you use the stand on either bike.

Here's the low down: (Alexey is on the right track!)
Follow the video on the Pit Bull web page, but do this one extra step. Put your right foot behind the wheel of the stand that is close to you, to keep it from moving. Push down hard on the arm bar. Watch your fingers. Whola. Bike is up. :thumbup

Since we're getting OT with the 1 person stand mounting...

People make way too much of this. I pitted next to a guy once that refused to do it and would ask for assistance every time he left or came into his spot. A friend finally had to show him. It's annoying.

Step 1 - 'Locate' the stand on the left hand spool or under the left side of the swingarm.

Step 2 - Holding the tail, tilt the bike level while keeping the spool hooked to the stand.

Step 3 - Look over the bike to the right hand spool while pivoting the stand to hook it.

Step 4 - With both spools hooked, apply pressure to the handle. This will hold the bike upright while you reset yourself to lift it.

Here's a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhXkhIS4Rp4

Practice it with a friend or something if you're afraid of dropping the bike. You'll be amazed how easy it is.

Note - The guy in the video hooks both spools before tilting. This is hard with a Pitbull because it's so heavy. YMMV.

+1 - I usually apply force on the stand with my left foot, and I use 1 hand on the tail bar. Goes right up, and my bike is as much of a pig as your ZX. :thumbup

The OP was asking about the Pit Bull FWD Handle Rear Stand. The instuctions/video posted above are for a standard rear stand and not the FWD Handle Rear Stand. The handle are on opposite ends and you can't hold the tail ... :nerd

Right. As I noted my post was somewhat OT, but addressed some other posts in the thread.

Uhh step on it? I used a triangle jack and a stack of well positioned bricks front and back... Dangerous but hey I needed tires..

Pitbull should make it easy w practice..
