Next Ride: Thursday, August 27, 2009

Meeting place: Lucky's parking lot on the corner of Hopyard and W. Las Positas in Pleasanton.

Meeting time: 11:45 a.m. (that's when we leave the parking lot, don't expect us to be there if you come late).

Route: Palomares road. Hopefully the slick spots from two weeks ago are gone. (I'll probably never be able to take that curve at other than a slow pace from here on.)

If you have never attended one of these rides with us in the past, please review the description and rules written in the first two posts for the first ride of 2008, here: http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=241286

Something always happens at work. I leave anyway, it'll be there when I get back.

In! :laughing

How noob friendly is this?

Just got back on two after a few years hiatus, so total experience is bout 5 months with mainly 9/35/84 as my playground.:ride

Would really love to go on a group ride and learn from others since, like everyone else, I'm too broke for trackdays!

We usually adjust the pace as necessary for the newer riders, and we wait as needed if we get ahead a little bit. The important thing is that you know at what pace you can comfortably ride and that you not get out of your comfort zone. As we often state, we're happy to wait for slower riders, but we really dislike having to go back and pick up a rider out of the bushes. So far, since 2002 we haven't had to pick up a downed rider and we want to keep it that way.

Love the camaraderie!!! ....I'll be there with my sv650s!

Will there be no passing and lane sharring? I think that is info people and newbies (ha, kidding) want to know. It says a lot about the group and ride. I rode last week with a group that will remain nameless and it was almost war. I had my little motor pinned most of the time to keep up, until we hit the twisties. It was really fun but more of a challenge then a stroll. The gym is closed Thursday so I might be able to make more rides with y'all. Either way have fun.

I think the rule is no unsafe passing.

*EDIT*
Unless you meant passing within the group, which is always a no-no. :shame

OFG- I have to have a talk wuth you about that KTM. I hear good things about the Champion Edition. 690smc would be the way I'd lean(I think) with KTMs but people have been trying to get me to look at the 530EXC. Heard it's all dirtbike.
P.S. Not much chance for a group to pass a car on the Palomares loop. So I was talking about within the group. I guess I'd have to get right behind Scott to go as fast as possible within the group. I can't help it, I was made this way by a racecar driving dad and a skydiving mom. Bad genes.

Definitely a "real" dirtbike. Luckily, it just happens to be street legal.

You can check it out tomorrow. :thumbup

careful a friend of mine was out there on saturday and he said there was evidence that someone went down and oil was leaked out.

I'm about to kick some serious ass at work. I worked until 9 PM on Tuesday for this project and find out at 11 AM today that it has to be redone completely, and complete by COB today.

Yeah, can't make the ride. No duh. :mad

And next week I'm down in LA-la land, and probably not going to be able to ride during lunch. More :mad :laughing

I'll try to make up for it by having a fun ride back on Friday, tho. :thumbup
