Westcoast connection annual ride Crash on bridge

A guy goes and plays off road at low speed and drops his bike, and that's a crash?

I stand by my experience that the vast majority of BARF rides I've been on have been crash-free.

A twisty rider isn't usually trying to impress the public with a "hey look what I can do! hey look what I can do!:banana" before a crash. :|

A lot of the group rides that have regular crashes, have a lack of leadership and setting of ground rules. You do have some control over who shows up and if they lack the proper equipment or attitude- they can go ride by themselves.

I don't know shit about that ride, and only watched a little of the video, but it looked to be at off peak time on the bridge (I didn't see much in the way of cars). In any case, a big group going through the Bay Bridge once a year (?) probably bothers less people than the constant hill riding.

You're right. There's no difference between, for example, murder and theft. They both deserve the same punishment.

I've passed Sheriffs on backroads doing a bit (under-exaggeration) over the speed limit who did nothing. I'd bet anything passing a Sheriff while doing a stand-up wheelie over a heavy traveled bridge would result in him coming after me. Because it endangers public safety. If I wad myself on a backroad, that sucks for me. If I wad myself into a Camry, then I'm hurting others. That is the point of government (read: police) after all; to protect people from people. I'm not saying that tey haven't intruded into protecting us from ourselves, but I don't consider that their primary responsibility.

Everyone has their cape on tight, typical BARF fashion....Some of these guys have more control on 1 wheel then most of you have on 2

We all ride, and some of us take more risks than others while we do it. Crashes are gonna happen. Stunters, ricky racers, even the safety nazis can crash. That's just the nature of a 2 wheeled vehicle. Fact of the matter is... this thread is about a video that was posted of like 200 guys riding slow wheelies in all lanes on one of the most well traveled bridges in the united states. It's like critical ass except without the smug.
 
mam oh man oh man there are a lot of BARF cops out. bottom line is we all enjoy our two wheels the way we want. some enjoy weekend riding, some racing, trackdays, back roads, harleys, and some just enjoy them on tv. carving the back roads, stunting or just enjoying the weekend doing the speed limit is no better or safer than one another, it's just the way we choose to ride. you have accidents no matter how experienced or inexperienced you are.

some think stunting is stupid and people don't enjoy it. i'll bet more than half the people that see them on one wheel think it's cool. it's not something you see everyday. it takes practice and skill to do that. i don't think that all the ones that practice it to perfect it, do it to show off. it's just the way they wish to enjoy their motorcycle. and yes some just do it to show off.

as for doubling the speed limit around the corner, also takes practice and skill. some also do it for self enjoyment and some do it to show off. some think they're not squids because they wear full leather suits. full suits don't save lives, only road rash.

if you ask me, anything that breaks the law on two wheels is squidish. we just enjoy our two wheels the way we want to. instead of criticizing our selfs (riders) we should give each other advice on how to be safe, not put our selfs down.

here's another idea. why not post, don't do stup!d sh!t on public roads instead? why so anti stunter? by the way when i said barf cops, i meant people in general on barf. no disrispect to real cops, just general talk.

I think the bridge was a perfect place for a large stunter group to go wheelie. Wish they would of wheelied Lombard street again as well!

Its nice to follow the rules most of the time. Just like its nice to break them every once in a while.

I can't help but think many here are jealous because they cant wheelie worth a crap. Either that or they are so straight laced, that they must be the most boring people on earth to be around. :p

what about when all you "safe by the book riders" gather up every last friday and speed around SF as if you all just bought your brand new bikes and have never rode before. kill that noise
i saw out of my window once your "barf friday night ride" half of you ppl blasted through the redlight on geary st.. thats very safe oh wait you guys had your full suits on its all good

B) are too old and just upset at everything

i agree and is why i don't criticize. i was just laughing at what he said. we all break laws, even as good guy, bad guy.

Typical police officer. Like you never had fun on a public road and broke a few traffic laws. Save your bs. I ride with officers all the time. Occasionally they wheelie. Obviously you are perfect. Never sped either huh? Go catch some real criminals. Typical. Go after the easy pickins. No wonder murderers and rapist get away.:wtf (no offense to my friends and real officers)
