You ever try to ride one of these things at a race pace on single track? You'll crash miserably too.. I'm surprised I'm not more injured. They're easier to ride on the pavement fast and that's what I was eluding to... you know.. with the 17" tires and cartridge forks an all.. :teeth

I tried to sell it for a while but didn't put much effort into it. Didn't sell it (oh, dang), so I kept riding it. Now I don't have a lot of extra time for it, so I'll sorta try to sell it again...
 
old thread, I know. I found this lookin for info on rewiring my xr. you ever sell it?

I'm havin a prob, wonderng if anyone has an idea. I have an intermitent spark. not even that, it'll spark once in a while, but not sure why. usually it won't.

has a 'monster coil' from amr racing that was ungrounded for a bit when i put the top end of the engine back together and tried to start it that way a few times. found the prob and grounded it, then it worked great for 2 days. then died, no spark-no ride. but every once in a while I do get a spark while testing? very strange. could trying to start it with the coil ungrounded have caused probs?

I'm cleaning up the wiring, the PO added the mo-power stator and lights, streeted it. but used an old harness from a car with tons of extra wires. so I'm simplifying the wiring in case that's an issue, but it's kind of confusing tracking down what he did. I'm trying to find any info from people who've added batteries, like a good wiring diagram that makes sense. I have the stock one and found the one from baja designs that shows how to set up the stator.

but honestly, I am a little bit lost here, I have lots of experience tinkering with carbs and engines, but lack in the elec. dept.

I would be willing to pay someone to stop by and help me sort this out! I'm on break this week and have time if you do...

Didn't sell it. Frame is out for powder coating and when it's back, I'll have new bearings pressed. Forks are getting serviced, seat done, and new wiring all through the system (all with the help of friends).

If you need help, PM Chad (Ironbutt). I know he's an XR aficionado and if he can't help you, he can probably point you in the right direction.
