my buddie out of state wants to get a fuel gauge on his 07 gsxr750.

I told him to use the trip meter but he wants to use that for oil changed ECT

so my question, does the 07 750 have dual trip meters like some other bikes?

and is there a aftermarket fuel guade to install or is there a bolt on part from another GSXR he can put on?

tell your friend to scribble down the mileage at the time of the oil change and use that to track it

Your buddy has the same mind block that lots of customers/riders run into....and it is silly. Tell him to ride his bike, enjoy it and stop thinking about the fuel gauge....NOBODY ON THE PLANET HAS ONE ON THEIR '07 GSXR750 and they are doing just fine....he'll be OK to once he gets used to the idea. He is making excuses why he cant use the odometer because he wants it to matter that the bike does not have a fuel gauge...which is does not.

As mentioned above...a notebook listing mileage that the oil was changed is a much better option...use the odo as a basic gauge. Funny thing about this.....even with the fuel gauge he is most likely not going to fill up until the fuel light comes on....the gauge is just a crutch that people are used to looking at in cars...so they think it is something you NEED to have.....

Most trip odometers only go to 999.9, then go back to 0.0. That's not enough for keeping track of oil changes.

Tell your friend that the primary use of the trip meter on a motorcycle is to know when to refill the tank. Or tell him to buy a Ducati - many of the recent ones, starting with the 1998 ST2, have fuel gauges. But even with my fuel gauge and a very bright low-fuel light, I still rely on the trip odometer.

:wtf the 750 has dual trip meters and it does go above 999.9.

As for the fuel meter? Another :wtf When the light blinks you have 1 gallon left - or ~10-40 miles depending on your right wrist - along with the reserve meter, which counts up the mileage since its been blinking. I don't know what else he wants, then again, since he lives in OR he doesn't even fill his own tank most likely...

Even if he does install a fuel gauge it will suck so bad he will have to use the trip meter. At least that has been the case on every bike I have owned with a fuel gauge.

Yeah, the trip meters on the 08's go up to 9999.9.

Shit, my '03 SV has a dual trip computer in the dash that goes up to 9999.9 mi. Tell him to check his owners manual.

question to the OP, your friend is a noob isn't he?

My 04 GSX-R 600 also had dual tripometers that went up to 10000 miles. I highly doubt it disappeared and reappeared between the 05 and 08 model years.

The tripometers were one place that the GSX-R beat a lot of luxury touring bikes.

I had an 07 gsxr 600 and it has 2 trip gauges, and a reserve gauge when the light starts blinking. even if the lights blinking youre good because it will go from blinking to continuously lit when you really need to fill up. not a big deal..

excelent guy thats for the info,

i've never really cared about the fuel gauge on my bike (thats more of a car thing for the general public imo) reserve is all i need :D

anyway i'll have him use the 2nd trip meter

My first two bikes has no gauge or even a light that would turn on, either you'd feel you were running out of gas and switch the reserve tank, or run out and then switch it.

I love the FZ6 and its digital fuel display and auto-reserve mileage tracking!

I dont see why one couldnt count 150miles from the trip count he is using for his oil change count anyways.

Shit, my Versys has a guage like the cbr600 and I STILL use the trip meter. I dont trust the fuel guage
